- About Old MSgt
- Biography
- I was born here in Eastern Kentucky in 1956. Got interested in WWII history and especially armor in the 6th grade and all thru to high school read all the WWII history books in the school libraries. Joined the USAF right after graduation in '75. Was a Heavy Construction Equipment Operator in Engineers. Retired as MSgt in 1996. After my little MSgt wife also retired from AF in 2001 we moved back to Kentucky where I'm from and bought a small farm. Lots of room to run tanks!
Other interests were building, restoring, and riding older Harleys but have quit that. Started collecting M1 Garand rifles in 1994. I still read a lot WWII/Korean War books especially if they're about armor.
'Discovered' Tamiya r/c tanks while stationed at Kadena AB Okinawa in 1991. While there I didn't have Harleys to work on and was bored of watching VCR movies. I still loved tanks so went in to an Okinawan hobby shop to maybe get a 1/35 tank to build since I hadn't built one in over twenty years. That's when I saw a Tamiya 1/16 KT kit. WOW! I didn't know there were large r/c tanks! Left Okinawa three years later with three clutch drive King Tigers. Now have five Tamiya Shermans, three KTs, three T1s, & one Panther.
Got curious about larger scale so built an RC Armory 1/8 King Tiger. In August '13 bought a used Armortek 1/6 Tiger 1 and restored it. Now I have nine Armortek 1/6 AFVs: King Tiger, Tiger 1, Panther, Panzer IV, two M4A3 Shermans, M3 Lee, SdKfz 7 halftrack, and Pak 43 88mm.
So now I work on and run my tanks and my wife enjoys her miniature horses here on the farm. We're happy! - Location

- Interests
- I built older Harleys then collected M1 Garand rifles and now build rc tanks..
