RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
I think I might not have been clear-- the M3 comes with 4 axles, all of them the same width. When I put the wheels on them, the front and rears are the same width. However, when I put the body on the chassis, it's obvious that I need to bring the rear wheels out a little bit. If I had wider axles for the rear, everything would be solved, but again, the Schnitzer M3 only comes with 4 axles that are all the same. The kit does come with wider wheel hexes (the plastic thing that the wheel attaches to, but when I use these, the nut that holds the wheel in place isn't able to go all the way in. It seems to hold the wheel in place, but I'm not able to get the nylon lining to reach the axle. Here's an example:
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/picturefra...04105212_2.jpg
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/picturefra...04105212_3.jpg
You can see that the front axle sticks out beyond the nut holding the front wheel in place. In the second picture, you can see the blue nylon lining because the nut can't go in any further.
I looked at a lot of pictures of this car on Tamiyaclub, and a lot of users use wider wheels with wider lips for the rears. I was wondering if the "3mm offset" wheels will essentially allow me to use use the same axle but stick out further.

I can see why oil shocks are better the stock ones bounce scrap bounce scrap on the body even on good tarmac.
A link for good shocks PLEASE.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hi, can anyone help me, i have just got a second hand tt01 with loads of spares too its all stripped though. I have instructions so no probs there but just a few questions though?
first question there are two motors one looks like a standard one and there is one which says super stock motor tz. I prussume the latter one is the best right? also there is two pinion gears one fitted too the super stock is a 19t pinion and there is a 22t one in the box which is best to use for faster performance? Another question there is what looks like 3 spur gears, One is standard i think (61t) and there is two black ones at 55t and 58t which do i use again for best performance
More questions follow after these ones are answed as this is where i am stuck now rebuilding it.
Really sorry for dumb questions just dont know much about them yet but very keen to learn as it looks great
Thanks in advance Andy

Bigger spur, smaller pinion - More torque and acceleration but slower top end speed.
Depends on what you want to do on which to use.
As for motor - sounds like the second listed would be a better over all motor.

I don't run brushed motors, so not sure what to recommend. As for gearing depends on what you want to do with the car. Personally I would use the bigger spur to get more acceleration and torque. I use my TT-01 for drifting.
My motor is a Hacker C40 6 Turn brushless motor and a MTroniks Brushless ESC.

ah i get it. I'm surprised tamiya didn't include the longer axles for you kit if its suppose to be wider in the back. My fxx kit came with the longer ones to accommodate the body.
Yes you can get the offset wheels and use the same axles, or you can get the longer axles themselves. Tower carries them. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXETJ1&P=Z. 2 normal ones and 2 long ones

What tires are you using. i don't see a link or name
ORIGINAL: DaveInLA
One more thing: it's probably obvious, but can anybody confirm that these tires will fit the standard Tamiya TT-01 51mm wheels? It says the inner diameter is 43mm, but I'm pretty sure that accounts for the lip/bead lining the inner tire. Also, will it also fit the wheels I linked above (the non-offset ones)?

19/55 won't work. the gears won't mesh right
there are 2 versions of the super stock motor both better than the stock silver one. the TZ Its torque turned ( hence the T) compared to the RZ rpm tuned one ( hence the R).
try the 22t on teh 58T with the TZ motor. should be a good starting point. depending on driving conditions( sunny, cold, etc. ) you can change the gearing around to your liking. If the motors too hot to touch after a few seconds, gear it down, If it feels fine, you can gear it up for some more speed if you like the acceleration.

My ford escort is the same. The rear of the body is wider than the front of the body. So I used the extra wheels spacers for the rear to make my rear wheels stick out far as the body. The wheels spacers came with my TT-01 kit. It was an extra set of hex for the wheels that were like 3mm wider than the standard ones.

Mindwreck, I looked really carefully at the axles in the link you posted above, but all 4 of those axles also look to be the same length. Are you sure 2 are longer than the other 2? It doesn't say in the description, either. Anyway, these are the wheels I'm talking about. I want to make sure these wheels:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM956&P=7
will work with standard Tamiya tires that come with TT-01s.

yeah they do. I've bought them before to replace mine when i crashed my tt-01. the wheels should also work. nothing special about them or the tt-01, just standard 26mm touring wheels.

Excellent, then I'll get those axles. Unfortunately, I'm having a VERY hard time getting the wider hexes off the axles. I screwed the wheels in TIGHT because they stick out so much, now the hexes are basically stuck onto the small metal pins that hold them in place. [:@]

small flat head should pop them off. but pop them off gently because you could lose the drive pins. happened to me a few times.

What kind of hop-ups would I need to run a TT-01 with a Mamba 6900 system in it? Like what parts are most vurnarable(sp?) to break? I already have the aluminum driveshaft, full ball bearings.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
so how do you change the gearing around? you mean by getting differant pinion and spurs?
check temps on motor and esc while on a run if its running way hot its over geared so drop a few teeth down on the spur or lower teeth on the pinion

none of my parts have broken yet. I also only have the alu shaft and BBs, but i have a feeling somethings goign to break everytime i run it. I plan to upgrade the drive shaft and diffs. The stock plastic one binds and wobbles a bit. along with the ball diff upgrade, these will help handle teh power and smooth out the drivetrain and handling
