I agree on the Loud Harleys, I have the stock mufflers on mine. It purrs but does not sound like a lawn mower. I can ride 7 hours to my daughters and not be deaf when I get there. Which I really appreciate as I still have the hearing of a teenager.
I like quiet planes also.

Would make good sense to use the big fg gas saito in one of those tho.
Dave in todays paper i read that donald duck is making things really difficult for harley in the US and europe, apparently harley have shut down their kansas plant or are going to.
Jim
From what I read the HD plant decision was made due to poor overseas sales due to high 100% tariffs, so they are building overseas to avoid import tariffs. This decision was made long before the President started the Tariff talk.
I would love to have the glow version of the 450 radial.Maybe this winter.......
Exactly!

Then again........,
That is a good price
A miserly buckeroo ninety for the blue bike dave...are you stranded out in the weeds with your lips stuck to the glass on a special bus? how's the fa90 twin looking.
Jim that bearcat is pure hornbag.
Gary when the japs started copying harley way back and sold a heap of cruisers in america your gummint promptly whacked on a huge import tariff to protect harley,it seems to be a battle with no winners and lots of backlash for all, gasket thickness is a minor problem. The playboy cam gasket has been in my fa115 for years, makes it go real hard.

And this is why I still keep an eye on this thread.
Save me enforcing the letter of the rules and deleting all the off topic motorcycle stuff and keep it civil please.

Pete, the 90-T rebuild is stalled out at the moment, waiting for the gasket set mentioned above, the guy is a quick shipper. I'll buy from him again.
I cleaned up my stuff.

Oh, I have little doubt it works very well It is even pre-lacquered up Probably very close to correct thickness too.
Remember when you could buy a complete set of gaskets for the family ford or Vauxhall for $12? And they almost quit leaking too!

President Reagan imposed the tarrifs on AMF because they mismanaged the Harley-Davidson company after they bought it. H-D was headed towards bankrupcy fast and AMF made things worse. That was the only thing President Reagan did that I didn't agree with, afaik.
There have been some comments made that appear to be said for the purpose of starting fights. To those concerned: FIGHTING AND/OR FLAMING OTHER MEMBERS WON'T BE TOLERATED. I don't mind deleting stuff like that and I see that Dave still doesn't like it either.
Before I sign off, what the heck do we call you now Pete/Old Fart/Rudolf?
MY BAD- I should have said that the tariffs were placed on Japanese bikes so H-D could have a fighting chance at selling motorcycles. They were way behind the curve at that point, and AMF was mismanaging things. Sorry for any confusioin.

It is nice to have an alternative source for quality gaskets. Saito at times is way behind on stock for so many of their older engines.
Just a precaution;
I would check the thickness on the cam housing gaskets as that thickness affects the gear mesh.
