That's how I'm used to doing it. I've had airframes that didn't like open-installs, though. Sounds like this isn't one of them.

Anyone else contemplate moving the ejection seat? This one seems to sit far too low. Usually, the pilot's head is only a few inches below the canopy ceiling, but this depth gives my pilot about 18 scale inches of head clearance.

I ran into the same thing you have with regards to the pilot's head. in fact most f-16 ARF's result in the same thing, the seat top being below the pilots head. And people usually just leave it like that, or they have him reclined with the helmet against the head rest like he is taking a nap watching sunday afternoon golf in his lay-z-boy. lol.
Essentially the back of the seat was raised up about 1.5" if I recall. the other thing i did was silicone the cockpit tub to the canopy frame so it comes off as one unit at the field for startup and shutdown, etc. saves the parts blowing around and risking damage.

Thanks Sean, the ejection seat is the same as yours, its the one that came with the model. The install is nothing super snazzy, just in there and low enough to avoid the cockpit base. It’s nice that this jet doesn’t need anything in the nose frame so i can take it totally off for transport and storage.

I had it moved back a little but not much. It gets tail heavy in a hurry when going back. I think it was moved to the back of the little CG sticker they put on the side. If you add ordinance the CG moves back and needs to be redone also. I had a removable weight in the nose I could add or remove depending on if I was flying it dirty or clean. Sometimes going to do a few flights at the field its a pain to install all the ordinance so its nice to have that option.

BVM 1/6 PnP F16 main struts
Hi fellow modellers,
I am looking for info on the viscosity of the silicone oil (I think it's silicone shock absorber oil) in the main struts on the 1/6 F16.
I disassembled one strut to test the spring upgrade but I think the result is too firm - been flying my bird since 2017 and really appreciate the long smooth travel of the main suspension and the way it's (almost) impossible to get a single bounce at touchdown. I changed back to the stock main spring but lost some oil in the process - now this strut has a lot lighter movement than the other. 🙄
I hope someone reading this thread has some knowledge about this issue.

By thrust it puts out not an issue. I think the HP is 51lbs of thrust. Just do not know anyone that uses that turbine. It will handle a 300n by size but would not max throttle a speed pass at that level of thrust.

I've seen them fly with 180, 200, 210, 220, 260, 300, and 320N turbines. If your empty weight is less than 50lbs a 180 to 210 will do just fine. Mine had lots of stuff inside and was 54lbs and did best with the 300 and 320N when pushing out of slow high AOA pass.

Thanks for the reply. I was basically concerned about the fit of the massive Olympus inside the fuselage. Its 130mm in diameter and 374mm in length. I am quite sure it produces enough thrust to propel the F16 with authority. I think the ultra light airframe will be happier with a little extra weight of the Oly for a little more scale flight.

Love that scheme David.
Ragz, the AMT will be perfect - but a full bypass will be good. If guys can fit 300's then you should have no problem. I will go the extra mile just to have the AMT-peace-of-mind.
