RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
Is anybody here actually flying with one of the 20cc gassers in this plane? if so thoughts on the combo? I'm about getting ready to start my ultimate build and just had an O.S. GT22 show up at my house ( grin ) and I'd really like to use the two together... a bit worried about the weight though. I know there are a couple people building/converting to a dle20 on here.... wasn't sure if anyone was flying it yet.
Feedback appreciated.

Hey there! When that kitcame out on the market a 1.20 4stroke was close to 28 oz so i believe that your gt 22 should be a great match! I ordered a dle 20 for my bipe! I own a dle20 already and still very satisfied.
have fun with your build!

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
don't worry, i actually saved a bunch of eight by converting from YS 120 to DLE 20, came out even better with servos in the rear to get proper CG. Think the O.S. might be even more power by reading the specs, but I'm happy with the DLE. She will be out flying in the next view weeks, slept since last summer.

All good to know.. .would love to hear from someone that has a 20cc CG Ultimate in the air or has had one...<div>
</div><div>
</div><div>I went with the GT22 mainly b/c with tower discounts I got the price down within $50-$60 of the DLE-20 and I've got a long history with O.S. and have never had much of a bad experience with the engines. I know some think they are overpriced... and that is fine. I basically paid extra to go with what I know.</div><div>

thunderboat42,
i've scanned these a while ago to have a set on hand for those who need it... we were also make cad images of the formers for laser cutting service, but you know how it gets, busy so I don't know what the status on that is. if you want a set pm me, i'll send the packet of formers and plans over to you.
I'm also waiting for a scan of the formers for the fuselage top, side, bottom, and the turtle deck to complete the package. when i get them i'll add those.
just helping out keeping the model alive... too bad great planes won't resurect it.... they cut all the replacement parts for it to this day... i know since i bought some ribs, strut formers, and fuselage parts.</p>

hi thunderbolt42
dido on the template idea. for many years I have drawn the parts outline on the back of the plan of all the
formers, ribs etc for later reference. if you fly the thing you will hurt the thing and need to be able to
cut out replacements for the repair. took a number of years to realize this but it sure pays off.
thanks and happy flying

hi twin flyer
nice looking vk cherokee, excellent flyer, I flew one for many years but radio failure took it out, it was my wifes
favorite plane. in regard to the engine u plan to use, I would not trust it with a k&b sportster engine. I had a 45 and
a 65 and they would not very reliable. lost two planes with them. I would go with the old k&b 61. the 40 and 61 were
excellent engines. I was flying mine with the k&b 61, never a problem with the engine. clarence lee I think still sells
an upgraded k&b 61 very reasonable or he will rebuild one you own I thinks for about 30.00 to 40.00 which includes a
new carb for it. someone years ago rekitted the vk and my wife bought me one for christmas that year, it is a future
build.
thanks and happy flying

Sorry, I have NO desire to go through the hassle of re-boxing and shipping it, so don't ask. I'll sell/trade FTF only; otherwise, my wife will have to do something with it when I'm gone.

Hi there!
I will try using nylon bolts to attach the aluminium landing gear on the fuse.
How many 1/4-20 bolts have you used/seen on this application?
I'm not sure if 2 or 3 will do the trick...

the only bad thing about using not enough nylon bolts is having the landing gear shear during a hard landing and damaging the wing....

Maybe 2,5 bolts is the right answer!!

had to laugh the first time I saw the CG Ulti plans on my bench with the Sportster 65 drawn on the plans from the factory.

I agree on the sportster line (RE: Long break in) they dont have a ring and AAC (??). I run mine slobbering rich leaning periodically for about 10 tanks on the stand. Once broken in and seated they are very reliable and have a fantastic idle.

I also have had good luck with my 65 sportster. It does take some time to breakin but runs really strong. I was considering changing it out, glad I didn't.
