Ok, I'm posting a picture of the mystery part. This part came with my engine (parts in a plastic bag)<div> </div>

It looks to me like a part of the air pump assembly for one of the Saito twins.
The Saito 1.50 will handle that much weight easily. I agree with others in that you should try to properly fit a larger fuel tank in the model than the 12 ounce tank you mentioned. Although, the 12 ounce tank properly installed (held in place by loose foam - no wood contact with the model) is better than a larger tank that has been improperly installed (tank touch solid parts of the fuselage).

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I am new to this forum but have had alot of Saitos and love them all!! I recently got one of the older .91 twins in a pkg deal and although the engine is like new,the power-output is a bit mellow......It seems that it is in a very mild stage of tune(cam timing or profile, low compression ratio?)I was wondering if anyone has had any luck increasing the out-put a bit? I am getting 9000 rpm with APC 14-6 and about 7800 with a 15-6 on 15% nitro. It runs perfect otherwise,I just can't find a plane that it works on at 30oz. weight.Any help would be appreciated or I will sell it cheap if anyone needs one of these that is like new.I would like to be a member of the club also....Brian

Look for models of monoplanes or biplanes that utilize radial engines. They usually have a short nose, which helps a lot when using a heavy engine.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Ok people, I am about to embark on thr second phase of running in my Saito gas engines and a couple of bg Saito 4 strokes, What I usually do at this stage is put hem in a big model and fly them and develop the in flight reliability through burning 2 or 3 tanks of fuel
Great for determining props to use and making sure the engines are going to play up when fitted to more expensive models.
My mentor has a 100% Dallaire (100 inch ws) that currently has a new Saito 91 in it, to quote him if it wasn't for the rules the beast would make a great duration model, good verticals and excellent performance. (The engine is destined for A Sea Fury.
So my question is "what sort of model do I get". I would like an ARF as I don't want to spend a lot of time building, better spent on "real projects" and I am leaning towards a SIG 1/4 scal Cub or if I can find it a big Telemaster. The airframe has to be able to take up to a 50cc petrol (not worried about weight mods will be done as necessary to counter act any fwd c og g, but I also have to be able to change engine mounts readily (false firewall has been the route in the past.
Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated

Having a SIG 1/4 scale Cub with an ECDI converted G23, it is my humble, but considered, opinion that it meets NONE of your criteria
It is neither easy and quick building, nor 50cc engine suitable. Maybe the 12 foot Telemaster would better suit your needs.
Sincerely,
Richard.

satios are wonderful.I got rid of all of my nasty 2 strokes and kept my satio 4 fourstrokes and added a dle30..satios run nice.I wish I could get money for a 450 radial but like most guys I live with a tight budget ..as for a 1/4 scale cub my satio 150 flew it very well and is about to power my spacewalker 2.

It will have plenty of power for the Cub
It will have plenty of power for the Cub
But, I have a problem, the motor runs very nicely on the ground, and during taxi, it idles like I have never seen a rc motor idle, slow and beautifully, it revs out very responsively, and it really screams at full throttle, but as soon as she gets up in to the air and flies for a while, the motor dies when I open the throttle fully. It does give me a fair bit of warning, and I run it with permanent glow at the moment, as the motor is set rich, as I am running her in so i just back off on the throttle and fly her on half throttle.
I have a Keleo ring on the motor, the motor is out in the open, so it does not get too hot, and it fires on all cylinders when she does run, and dies on all cylinders when she dies, so it cannot be glow plugs, and I cannot see any leaks in the fuel system. I am running the motor with the big tank I took out from the H9 Sopwith wreck, and not the tiny TWM tank. I do not have a remote fuel filler, and fill her up straight in via the carb line.
I am wide open to suggestions...

When I had my .90 triple with the Keleo ring it made very little tank pressure, I was tempted to move the nipple over to right in front of where one of the exhaust pipes enters the ring.

When making and selling engines that are this complicated and expensive, there is no excuse for not engineering and including a working fuel delivery system. Fuel pumps and regulators should be considered mandatory for such an engine.
Another possibility is fuel foaming. Is the fuel tank mounted vibration isolated from the airframe? The size or the number of cylinders have nothing to do with an engine's susceptibility to air bubbles in the fuel.
And don't believe everything that you read on your fuel bottle's list of ingredients as being present or effective when there.
