Default 3W engine customer service

For those who actually own a 3W (none of "I heard of a guy with issues, or read about it online), and have needed service, please indicate from whom you got the service and how it turned out. Not engine or ignition failures, but how your service from the 2 dealers mentioned above turned out. For those who have had poor CS, please vote and mention below what the issue was.

Yeah, Bobby is really busy, but promt like mentioned when you need something done. I had an old 157 QS with the blue heads, the ones that had all the problems, and he updated it to the new version free o charge.

Please, all of you who marked poor, can you post your dealings and what you didnt like. I dont think its fair to mark poor and not give a reason, what would stop the die hard da fans just to mark it poor without owning one or a reason.

I have had great service from both of them, Bobby is real busy, but he will take care of you. Gerhard is easier to get a hold of and takes care of you as well.
No complaints with either one.

Sent both a E-mail requesting info and prices for my 3W-100iB2F
Got no responce from CA.
Bought from AI after a return phone call.
Gerhard even sold me a set of headers and canisters to go with the engine.

So since you didnt get an email back from Cactus, does that mean their CS is poor? I find it best just to call any of them whether it be AI, Cactus, DA, etc. I have had numerous emails from DA never returned, and takes me less time to pick up the phone.

CA sold me a 100 for a 106. when i bought the engine i believed him when he told me that he had run out of 106 stickers. he marked a SS and 106 on the rear of the engine, but after buying a couple from Gerhard i know now that bobby took advantage of me. the engine does not even come close to the 106s i bout from AI, and bobby's "106" is even heavier.
that is ok, i ended up buying 2 36% etrax level 3, 2 engines, headers, props, 3 powerboxes, and soon a 40% extra and all the trimmings.
CA took my $ once but not twice in the long run he lost

I call upon Bobby moreso than I do Gerhard. Gerhard is more prompt to respond to things than what Bobby is, but Bobby treats me like a member of his own family!! I can talk to Bobby about anything, and he listens. He is a great idea man, and a gentleman!

I had to send my 106 out to him for a new case and to have the crank checked. Send it out to me, and I'll help you on it as best as I can. Boy did he ever!!! Saved me quite a few $$$ on the repairs!! Now, that same 106 is back to him, yet again. I was shot down at a IMAC contest last month. I'll get the same service like I have always recieved from him and his crew!!

CA!!!!

I have had nothing but great service from Gerhard at AI. I have between 25 and 30 - 3W engines of all sizes powering my research fleet.

RTW --> You're kind of mixing the issue and results here aren't you?

You emailed Gerhard, but called Bobby.

Even so, lots of people just read the post at face value.

I didn't read the poll, but read the post.

I know 2 people personally that have had a couple of incidents with the 3w 106's recently. In the last couple of weeks 1 106 lost the ignition (no wrecks propstrikes etc) and the other 106 has cracks in the crankcase in several places (also no wrecks, propstrikes etc). When you turn the engine under compression you can see the oil residue come out of the cracks in the case. As far as the cracked crankcase, he was told to send it in and they would check it out, that if they found it hadn't been in a wreck or propstrike then they would cover it under warranty.. Waiting to see about the customer service....

PS, I didn't vote

I personally had to send my 106 to Bobby for work needing done due to crash. I did buy the engine from AI but when I called to get quote on my stripped muffler threads he wanted to replace my whole head. Bobby's brother was able to fix the original head and you can't even tell it was repaired. Awesome service from CA. YES he can be a hard person to get a hold of, but when you do talk to him you find it hard to hang up somtimes because he wants to shoot the $%#@ so much. GREAT GUY! I guess everyone will have there bad experience with all the businesses some time or another.

Well, the poll wasnt probably the best way to convey that 3ws customer service is as horrible as everyone thinks or heard it is. Its not accurate to call a companies CS poor because they didnt return an email. I have had numerous emails never returned from DA, but their CS isnt horrible, is it? On that issue, if you really need something, call them.

RTK, not you specifically, but I think a few who voted that was their reason for voting poor, which is not a viable reason. 7 votes for poor, and only one that justifies their response, so that really isnt justifiable to me. I guess the point is that 3ws customer service is not horrible like all the stories you may have heard. All of those "heard of a guy", etc, should not be based on when buying a 3w engine. It could go the other way for DA. Everyone raves for their customer service and how great it is. What's funny to me is everyone has experience with DA customer service when sending an engine in, how come so many have to be sent in?

RAZR Said.....What's funny to me is everyone has experience with DA customer service when sending an engine in, how come so many have to be sent in?

That's what I've been asking for two years...Seems it's OK to have to have your DA serviced but when the other EQUAL brands need servicing it's a mark on the wall against them.

I can't figure it out.....and yea I did vote for good service from AI.Love my new 3W 157

Can't disagree with that. The two major reasons for servicing a motor should be.........

#1 Old age and worn out
#2 Planting it in the ground

I am very anxious to run my new 157 on the full pipes. If zdz makes a super 160 thats bad *****, that would be worth trying too. It just kind of bothers me when someone picks x brand over the other because they heard that the other y brand has bad CS, etc, and never ANY personal experience with brand Y.

That is one of the bad things about the internet, a lot of BS gets spread. You just have to learn how to sift thru it.

Let us know how that 157 runs.

Do 106 motos have a 106 sticker on them or a 100?
