Default What were your first jets?

So reading these threads about people looking for their first jets, I'm wondering, all you guys who are flying jets now that have been flying them for say 10 years or more, before all the really nice easy flying trainer jets came along, what were your first jets, be it ducted fan's or turbine.

Mine were as follows:

Y/A A4 Skyhawk, OS91 dynamax
DL Aeromodels Cyclone 2, OS91 dynamax
Y/A F4 Phantom, OS91 dynamax
Parkinson Regal Eagle, OS91 Byron

Planes Plus Kangaroo with a RAM 750
Aviation Design Exocet with RAM 750
Fiberclassics Eurosport with AMT AT280SP

Those were my first jets, don't have any of them anymore but as far as I know all 3 of my first turbine powered birds are still flying today somewhere.

I owned others in that same time, but they were either to unsuccessful to consider first jets or I never flew them haha.

Here's a pic of my old Roo

My first jet was a byron F-86... I think that was back in 2000, then had a byron F-15, yellow star fire, Aeroloft t-2 buckeye, amd ITP caproni.. then started my turbine career with the A10x and have had several more since then.

My first one was a Jet Hangar Hobbies Mirage III powered with an OS VRDF77 and Dynamax. That was in 1990.
I still have this plane in flying state and she is equipped with a Schuebeler DS75 DIA. I don't fly her too much though because of her great age...

I scratch build scale models & my first jet is still not finished! I started a Macchi 339 but it got a bit complicated so I scratch built a simpler sport jet just to get flying. 3 years later the Macchi is still not finished but the sport jet is still going strong. - John.

Default RE: What were your first jets?

I started with a single channel ducted fan model designed by a Brit polymath called P E Norman. It was called a Rapier I think, with a design for a diy fan and a bungee launch system. I was luck enough to have access to an old lathe which made the fan an easier build. I was able to turn the hub then use the chuck as an index and the tool holder as a guide to cut the slots for the 1/16th ply blades.

I had little success until I acquired a Cox Special 15. I had some good flights then if the engine was right on song but as it needed costly 30% nitro fuel, and kept blowing the very expensive glow head I sold it. It was a real pig of a job to get it started as I had to use a pull cord hand wrapped around a small pulley inside the fuselage. I was using a babies dummy as a bladder tank to provide a pressurised fuel system and this would flood the engine if the clip was removed too early. However I can still remember the satisfaction of that first successful flight, a just a few circuits and a landing but under control. I was 16 or 17 at the time.
