when I was looking at Tamiya kits, I had a long hard look at this one, how would you rate this against the TA-05 standard kits Lunchboxer?

Is there a solid axel option for that chassis?

They are so different, I wouldn't even know where to start to compare to them......

I mean, TA-05 = 4WD TC.. driving style is point and shoot.. while the F103GT is RWD, a lot more throttle control is needed..

Which one is faster?! Most likely TA-05..

Which one is cooler.. LOL.. it is gonna be up to you...

You can always just take the balls out of the gear to make it a spool, I guess... but I don't know if that would hinder the turning too much.......

Which part do you call the diff joint?! Cause this thing is super stout.. the screw is like 4mm size shaft.. you can't break this thing!!!!

As stock, it probably won't fit as it is a tight fit for the stick pack already.. but you can probably work around that..... not gonna be easy, though...

Short answer, no...

this is the diff joint...it doesn't take much to over tighten it and break it
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=51233

And my F103GT doesn't fit side by side packs...

That thing is so big, how can you break that?!?!? Man.... I would have not imagined you can break that...... for the tiny ball diff screw on the touring car, yes.. but this?!!

Hi Eric; you finally got a chance to drive it then huh?

Bit of a handful is it not!? I think that's why I like this chassis, it's so damn hard to drive modified, so much concentration needed, you sometimes feel like you're going faster than you are, because you're worrying about brake timing etc.

It's so much fun once you get to 'grips' with it.....

I have not noticed my car pulling to one side however; and I have a 14T motor, and the diff is quite loose. Maybe a set of wides? lol.

Good luck with it!

Chris.

Yeah, I tighten the diff some more, but won't have a chance to drive it until many days from now.. (gonna be away for the weekend..) [:@]

Yeah, pretty strange that it pulls to the side.. and it is definitely due to the rear.. as if I just let it drive straight slowly (without lighting up the tires!), the car tracks perfectly straight..

I think the worn tires + dusty parking lot + cold temperature (I ran at like 10PM the other day..) just light up the tires too much.. and it just starts to pull to the side..

Maybe I need to run tires w/ high grip on the back...

But yeah, I ran it.. man, I was slow... compare to my high(er) powered TC.. those are just point and shoot.. you can turn at full throttle (brushless, noless!) This will take some more throttle control that's for sure............. [&:]

Oh, I hope you don't mind, I posted the pic of your T-Rex at my TLT thread.. I thought it is a cool looking truck.. you actually run a Mamba in it?! (I saw the ESC sticking out on the back.. !)

Yeah, the SxS pack can be make to fit for sure.. (for example, if you just not mount the battery tray at all, just zip tie to the upper deck, so it is all possible.. just depends on how much work you want to put in, but I think it is not gonna be hard..

But like I said, as stock, no, it won't fit...

yeah i switch it between the t-rex and my rc10t2. Its suppose to be a crawler , but speed is addicting. I rather fly over the rocks than crawl it

haha. damn you!! thats main reason i want it. just to have it there and stare at it. Theres still a 90% of me getting it!! I just need to finish this 10t first

I hope to have my TLT finished soon.. just need to extend the front now.. already built 1/2 of the links.. maybe need another few hours, ha ha! Won't be home this weekend, though.. so won't be doing that.. oh well...

Here's a couple more shots to convince you.. also, it is challenging to drive.. so it is kind of interesting in that sense..

LB now that you have both, can you take a pic of the F103GT with the F201 tires/wheels so i can get an idea of the proportions?

I tried, but the F201 wheel won't fit the F103GT, unfortunately...

The wheel is so small that it won't clear the diff/hub/whatever you call it on the F103...

So I ran the car some more today...

First thing first.. dial down the EPA on this car.. since it is RWD.. the front, you can turn at silly angle without binding.. but there's no point.. so don't.. dial down the EPA and it is much more stable... not so on the edge anymore!

I tighten the diff.. now it seems to handle better.. but we will see once we get on the higher traction surface..

I am still running the car with no body on.. (don't want to ruin the body, ha ha ha!) I really should mount the Magic Carpet on it.. hee hee.. should be an easy mount...

Wonder if they sell a 1/10th pan car body that would fit this car...... hmm...

Any suggestion?!

But yeah, after those tweak, I can drive the car a bit better today.. ha! (still, need to be careful w/ throttle!)

Oh yeah, it is quite quick for a silver can.. I can't wait to put in some higher power motor in it..
