RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
Hey Joe, & everybody else,
If the weather is good Saturday 03/14/09 and the wind is within reason she'll have her first flight if everything checks out on the ground. She'll fly in the appearance you see her in, in the pics. Then I'll put her back on the bench, break her down and finish the detailing. The minute I land on Saturday if everything checks out I'll give Duane a call to start selling the kits. This afternoon and tomorrow I will be balancing and test runing the engine to insure all is well. Enjoy the pictures.

I'm talking about the sticks that are attached where the flying wires for the wings criss cross.I didn't know what they were called either until I asked a friend with a full scale bipe.

Hey Joe,
Here's how I did my Javelin whatchamacallit's........ I'm not sure what you call them either............I got this from checking out a build thread of a WACO. That's how he did it. So I say's to myself if it's good enough for a WACO, it's good enough for an AGCAT right, right. . At first I tried drilling the right angle, man what a migrane. So basically I just wrapped them with dental floss and CA'd them. Trust me they arn't coming loose. I'm sure you can use any kind of strong type string you'd like, but dental floss was handy and very, very strong...........oh, don't use the waxed dental floss because it won't soak up the CA glue. That's just my twist on it. I'm sure others may have different/better ideas. I hope this helps out a little. Once they are painted it will fill in all the string wrappings. I hope!

I'm using wire, but cable is good also. I will probably go with cable down the road. This bird is work in progress and stuff like that is subject to change down the road. The way this plane was built does not need the guide wires on the wings at all and is merely cosmetic, but it does need them on the tail for sure.

Thanks for the tips Joe, That's exactly how I plan to take off. That's how I do all my planes. I don't even roll until there isn't any doubt it's flying before it leaves the ground.
It was time for some new underware anyway huh Joe....[X(] "SHORT TAKE OFF'S.....OMG, that will surely test your skills....HA!, most of the time it's just plain ole' SSSSPPPPPLLLLLAAATTT..........[:@] [] [:'(] [&o]...BOOHOO WWWHHHHHAAAAA.....

Sorry guys, [:@] [:'(] []
I've called off the test flight today........BOOHOOOOOOOOOOO. the weather is way too bad down hear in Houston, Tx. It rained all day yesterday and more is on the way for today. They're calling for another 60 to 80 percent chance of more rain on the way.
For those who have the Great Planes Flight Simulator:
I don't know if anybody has ever mentioned this but there is this website that I go to all the time and download planes for my Great Planes Flight Simulator. I still have the G3.5 version. I haven't looked on the newer versions, but they do have an Air-Tractor 401 and and Air Tractor 502. Not to mention HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of other planes for your downloading pleasure. You name it they've got it. I've never had a problem with down loading any of the planes that harmed anything on my computer. They also have tons of panaramic real life airfields and a lot of other downloads for that particular simulator. I've never gotten bored with my simulator considering there is so much to add to it. If the link doesn't work just type in the website into your browser. Enjoy.......
I wasn't going to walk away without giving you something.....

RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
I was waiting for someone to ask me that. YOU WON JOE!!!!........... congratulations, YOU'VE JUST ONE A BRAND NEW AGCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!............just kidding for sure......., boy I bet you're really mad at me know huh [:@] , My wife really wants me to fly it too.....[>:], you guys know what I mean huh. She just said if it ain't this one it'll be another one........SHE'S RIGHT!!!!!, SHE JUST WON A BRAND NEW AGCAT..............NOT KIDDING....[:'(]
Anyway,,,enough fooling around. While it rained all weekend I did get something done. I started fabricating the interior cockpit, floor board, chair and stuff like that. It doesn't seem like a lot of work, but trust me it is for sure.......I hope you guys enjoy the pictures of the work I did over the weekend.
I have to go out of town this weekend (03/21/09) so the next avialiable target date is Sunday @ 2:00 in Highlands, Texas at the Prop Nutts Flying Field 03/29/09.
Attached are a few shots of the cockpit that I'm in the process of building, and also a shot of the tailwheel. The GI Joe dude is just a doll that someone gave me a long time ago. I just basically left him on the bench and forgot about him. What do you know he got weathered through time also. He fit the bill but he's only temporary until I can find the right figure to use for a pilot and then it's the ejection seat for him.......Ha, LOL..... I still have A LOT of work to do on the cockpit and air brush work as far a weathering goes.

RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
Joe,
I have to go to La. this weekend. [] So the follow in weekend on 03/29/09 is my next schedule date. I knew if I didn't get to fly her last weekend it would be another 2 weeks before my schedule would open up. On the bright side it gives me more time to detail more of the plane and also double check everything. I believe that all things happen for a reason. So, maybe the rain was a blessing. You just never know. I feel more comfortable with the two week lag anyway considering it is the prototype and I will be able to insure all is ready to go with ample time to do it.
