RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Sorry to inturrupt thread but i have a tt-01 and it is almost bone stock... I have 6 3000MAh "venom" bat. but i also have 3 cars all the same me my bro and dad's. They all have bearings thats about it... Anyways here is the ?'s I am putting new mods in them i am looking to buy Yeah Racing Alloy 50mm damper set i have a ? though I have 2 type 50mm suspension what is better 50mm or bigger?? and is this good for drifitng? Also i am getting a motor it is a rz superstock 23t. Also I shouldnt have to get a new ESC for this motor right? Then a alloy driveshaft. But on the drive shaft do u have to get a alloy center joint cup??? Also with that motor should i get a heatsink? Then from there i am getting with a alloy battery hold. I think that is about it for now... I have been drifting for over a year and decided to step it up. But is this a good step up??? Also i am wanting to rally alittle nothing to serious just some small jumps and a little dirt but mostly into drifitng.
Thanks alot...
Thanks alot...

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
i will try here m8 rally on the tt-01 is a no go unless its gravel the ground clearance is bad on these cars better off with a tb chassis
as for the ESC no m8 the tamiya standard one will run that motor NPS as its a 23turn limit so u shouldnt have a problem(i run a 21double on mine nps)
suspension wise i just bought the tamiya hopup ones (oil) and they make a good difference for drifting and speeding around, alot smoother than the friction ones (standards)
alloy propshaft is a defo as are metal bearings,up to you on the ballcups upgrade i didnt bother and no problems so far,as for the heatsink if the motor starts to run very hot then yes also the metal motormount is a good option.
for drifting the basics are
metal bearings
ali propshaft
pvc wheel or drift tyres
the rest are optional but if that motor runs hot in there i would invest in a metal mount or heatsink, when i changed my gearing my temps went up a bit and as you will know drifting heats them up alot too i do 15min runs then check temps and let cool down,my friends suffered from overheating badly and melted the plastic motor mount but im still not sure what he did lol
hope that helps ya m8[8D]

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
sweet sounds like a plan... I think i am getting new motor, suspension, metal motor mount, alloy drivetrain, alloy battery cover. I really need a new skin my 350z is so thrashed lol its my junker skin. My bro has a skyline skin its pretty sweet. Then my dad has a honda, But ya also everytime i drift i only use electric tape it works really well and i am pretty good with it. But is it really work getting ABS wheels??? I mean i dont mind tapeing.. Also for rally just a little off road like dirt and small ramps what should be used for it like it their anything u can cover the motor with or is dirt really going to do much?? me and my bro we have a birm we run on when we wanna get some dirt but its all stock in our cars and it seems to do good.. Also ramping good or bad??? I would really like to just rally then change some tires then go back to drifting is this possible??? Thanks for the help

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hey guys I got the TT-01 together! I missed my bus today at school and had to walk home. Then I dident have time for my homework so I called in sick at work. After the homework was done I cracked down on this thing and man was it fun to build it. It was super easy too.
The wiring is still a mess and I don't have time to paint it tonight but I am just so proud of it I gotta post
Anyways I'm off to bed.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
how are you locking your diffs? silly putty and play doh are things i've seen people use. I put some heavy machine grease in my rear diff. wanted more of a limited slip effect rather than a permanently locked diff. with brushless power it doesn't really even matter anymore. i can spin the tires at will

yes u can use play doh putty etc and it will last for a while but the mess after is a pain lol
mindwrecks got the right ideal try and go with heavy duty grease or very thick oil works best.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Wow this thing is real fun. I totaly suck at drifting but I think it might just be because my driveway is too rough. I should get some ABS tires or something. Also I locked my rear diff by jamming one of the little gears in between the other two. Its locked solid now and seems to work good. I did not lock the front one though. Would it help the car slide better if I lock the front one?

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Oh and I dont have to work till tonight so I get to paint my car today the second coat of orange is actually out drying in my yard now. I think one more coat of orange then I will back it with black. After finding out how hard it is to mask stuff I decided to just go with plain orange and no black hood or nothing. Its looking pretty good so far. The paint is bleeding around the edges of my masks tho [:'(] Hopefully I can clean it up with some paint thinner on a rag later on.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
should be fine with just the rear locked.
since i switched to pvc wheels i havent needed to lock the diffs
and find some smooth ground m8 helps a lot while drifting, find some space, stick a marker down and pratice dirfting round it it takes a while to get but well worth putting the pratice in

i lock my rear diff with some glue in stick-i use a hot pistol to melt it(i dont know exactliy what is right term)-not hard to clean, totally revesible. like mindwreck say , in future i will use heavy machine grease, but for weekend it's good enogh.
