Welcome to Club SAITO !
No green ground wire on those. The ground is black and is tied to the red one that connects to the battery, the tach lead is to connect to a tach readout, the third lead goes to the pickup on the engine itself.

Also a good idea to use one of these

On the 14 for break in, I would suggest adding just a bit more oil to the mix for the first 1/2 gallon, then go the recommended ratio after that. When I first ran at the 20:1 I saw no oil out the breather, which had me concerned, so made it 18:1 and then saw oil residue. I also only ran one tank through it on the bench, then flew it after that. It is one sweet running engine. my FG-11 runs for at least an hour on 12 ounces of fuel. I also added a scavenge system like what is recommended on page 4, which keeps the cowl and engine clean.
Well, looks like I wont be able to maiden my Cub today, its foggy and visibility sucks. I did fire up the Saito 100 in it yesterday, it has so much torque, the plane was moving sideways on throttle up. Took a bit to get started though being it was only 42*.
Just for clarification, isn't the red wire positive and the black wire negative (ground)? Although they both go to the battery, they are not connected together which would short out the battery and the ECDI certainly would not work. Or, as very well may be the case, am I the one confused?
Sincerely, Richard

Guys, stupid question but is it okay to mount a 4 stroke upside down? I know you can mount 2 stroke upside down but didn't know for sure on 4 stroke.
Thanks
Keith
Thanks
Keith
No problem, in fact I linked to one I use in all my gas planes, wouldn't want to fly without one. I get mine from badbradgraphics, same model, but only $15, and shipping is something like $3 as long as it fits in a standard envelope.
Sincerely, Richard

Old Fart - isn't the brown the nasty bad tempered poisonous critter?????????? I would need a couple of shots of Crown Royal to go with the beers and Cuban..........
O.F., I think those critters like the glow fuel that you have been pouring into the ground. I know that downstream of where I mount my engine test stand sometimes gets infested with grubs. I started moving the test stand around in the backyard so that the exhaust doesn't get concentrated in one area.

Old Fart, whats the problem with brown snakes. We keep them as pets here, now Taipans that's a different matter. I will be doing some engine testing (with my mate) over the period between now and the new year. Bloody eye is proving a bit of an inhibitor but a good excuse when it comes to "stuff" that one is not enthusiastic about. We expect the ceramic bits in the new year until then the experiments revolve around fuel and props. Catch ya

I don't know about living in a place where lots of things want to eat you or bite you. I have a wife and don't need other things trying to kill me.............

It's shame you have to go through 20 pages of parts to find the engines.

It's a shame that Clarence didn't get hold of one of those. I found his test of the 2.00 TI but no 1.00 TI. It's interesting that the crank throws are not splayed at the same angle as the cylinders.

If you look at that photo real close you will see that they are in fact splayed. This video proves that they are split the same as the cylinders.

My 200 ti is definitely an even fire 360/360 firing pattern.

The cornea transplant is an amazing procedure when you read how it is done. My son had 6 eye surgeries when he was 14 or 15 y/o, so I know about some of that stuff.
When I was in my 30's I never wore glasses except to fly Monday through Fridays. Didn't wear them driving, reading, watching TV, or any other time. But, for some unknown reason, I went and got my glasses one day when I was driving a couple of nails on something. I've never done that before. I didn't blink when I hit a nail hard and watched it shoot back and hit my glasses right in the middle. The force was the most surprising as my nose was sore from the impact. The nail had some force behind it. There is no doubt I would be blind in my left eye if I had not worn those glasses. The polycarbonate glasses had a little divot chipped out of it from the nail.

Hello all. My name is Bill and I need some help.. went through some life changes a few years ago and stepped away from RC but now I am back at this hobby with a new found excitement.. I have an FA 65 that I have no clue where it came from (seriously) it has.been sitting in a box lo these the many years and it is in pretty good shape. I am not one to let a good engine go to waste so it is going on a 65 inch Decathlon. Problem is it will not run.. so I have adjusted the valves and dissembled the carb. The engine and carb parts are now getting a crockpot anti freeze bath as we speak. I have ordered the engine and carb gasket kits along with a velocity stack from Advantage Hobby. I have spent the last hour or so reading the complete Saito Notes by Bill Robison.. man what a wealth of information that guy was.. RIP good sir, what a kick in the pants that was to have found out the guy passed in 07 at the end of the thread, after spending a few hours reading his notes kind of got a sense of what a great asset he was to the RC community and I felt a bit of sadness to read about his passing.. anyway what I need and I cannot find anywhere is an exploded view of the FA 65.. found a ton of links but most of them came back as link not found.. or something along those lines.. .. so if somebody could post a link it would be a huge help!!! Thanks a have a great evening!
oh and mine has the Y code stamped in the mount and the muffler with the aluminum canister.
