At least I had that on my "bad" eye. But I didn't know this until after the surgery, both eyes are so linked to each other in the nervous system that I couldn't read or watch TV for weeks, even if I covered the bad eye.
LOL...... You guys lift my hart. Wished we could have Club Satio BBQ & just fly. Ya'll have not seen all the stuff that is in my trailer & starched in my house! OldFart, your awful quiet.

Yea, I hear you there OldFart! Tail you what, Come on over and pick them up and we'll work something out. BUT! You have to bring the Shrimp. My wife loves that stuff. As for as me pondering on other things, Yea l'm kinda a b*** a** and (AT 60) l still like learning and l learn a lot from you guy's and it's good reading for my mind and l fill like l have a buddy hear and l'm not alone. Hope you know what l mean.

Yeah they called mine macula (sp) pucker. Dr calmly told I would be awake and they would sitck two little wires in my eye and smooth it out. I could see the probe suck out the buggers out. I kept moving my eye around until Dr told someone to "give him some more gas". In about 6 months got my "cadillac" removed and now see better than for a long time. Getting old ain't fer sissies.
I have not had surgery on my eyes (although that is coming at some point), but I had to have my upper eye lids reduce so I could see. I woke up in the middle of the surgery screaming I could feel the knife.

And if a bassektomy caused concern over the one-eyed trouser snake, I think you may have gone to the wrong Doc
Won't even comment on getting things sucked out of my eyeballs - that thought causes severe pucker. In fact, the suction effect had me stuck to my seat for 15 mins until I managed to break the seal.
Aaaanyhoo... I hope to be getting closer to dropping my 180 into the 109. Still got a bit of shelving etc. to organise in my new ManCave, and then I can let rip on a dozen or so unfinished projects.
I'm still going to need to fashion some sort of prop-extension. Or mount the motor right up front and have to cut a fair bit of the cowl out - which is something I don't really want to do. It'd ruin the æsthetics to have a big cylinder head hanging out up there. I'm sure I can knock up some sort of extension shaft and bearing assy to get this all to work...

Ok you guys I am back. To begin just before I had the left eye done I was flying a mates full size Dallaire with a 65 up front. Flew well until I applied down elevator (under power, idle +) and the b#**^y thing tucked under on me. Zero incidence on the wing and 3 degrees down on the tail plane. "Interesting", the plane is still in one piece and the Saito is still working well. It was the left eye this time distance vision is blurred to a degree but if I move the computer screen closer all is well. Due to the steroids I was fed to assist me getting over the broken shoulder I will need glasses but not to worry just to be able to see out of both eyes is great. My vision (which is improving measurably each day yes I mean that) is a lot better than I have had for a very long time. I became aware of my surroundings just as they were putting the lense in place "interesting". But get a competent doctor, mine was one of the best in Queensland, and go for it if you need the operation. My criteria was being told about the whole process which this guy did. If I had any ***** about any thing it was that the car park at his surgery was a ***** to get in and out of. So now I will spend assembling ARF's using up my Saito stash and my servo and R/x stashes. Those steroids can be a fair bugger, FNQ. Been on them (and a heap of other toxic junk) for the last 7 months or so.
How did your blood sugar react? Mine went out through the roof.
Moving on... it will be interesting to hear how you go with reversing a Saito, TB. I'm no expert at this sort of thing, but it should be doable - first and probably major hurdle would probably be the cam. The lobes/timings would need to be revesed, no?

I would think the same about the cam. I don't know if it has been done ... Maybe not. Maybe a modified can out there? I refuse to go electric so hoping for a solution. If I can't find one the P38 will just have same rotation engines. But it's a worthy research project.
Re the medical... Sending prayers. I just paid off the hospital bill from last spring. Ruined the flying season.. Just now getting back to shop.. It's in total dismay.

I have heard of using a port side (twin) cam to reverse a single. Stands to reason that the starboard (standard single cylinder cam) could be used to reverse the port side valve timing.
Bigger problem might be keeping the prop from lossening W/CW rotation.

I was thinking the same thing - dunno exactly how the cam lobes are attached on a Saito, but if it's a simple pop-on, pop-off affair, you might just be able to put them on 'backwards' so that it opens and closes the valves correctly when travelling in a CW direction.
If that can be done, I'm sure there'll be a way to stop the prop from undoing. Either one of those multi-bolt dohickeys... are maybe even applying a LH thread etc...

I only have the gas engines and im very happy with them 1 fg36 2 fg30 1fg20 and I recently converted a 300 golden nite with the cd ignition and a fg36 carb I have that engine on a 1/4 scale hanger9 cub I run the klotz oil 20/1 and have had not a minutes trouble with any of these engines
