My USAircore Knighthawk is setting on my chest freezer right now. I set it up as a taildragger too. It has an FA-91S W/CDI shoehorned into the nose inverted.
LOL There Oldfart. Don't be that way! Lover your mum' I lost mine in 72. Her middle name was Kate. I world war 2 a (Kate) was a KILLING AIRPLANE. And i don't mean she (THE KATE) was a sleeper of an airplane. Now the Zero was. I got one that i just had to have and it's been standing behind the door in the bed room for the last three years. I have been trying to trade off the 180 that is in my brother's Chipmunk for two cheep 26cc gas motors from HK, BUT! I think i'm going to scale it out and put the 180 in the Zero and make it and the Yellow Aircraft T-6 into a show plane. The Zero has a 80"Ws, Shows a 30-50cc gas. The T-6 gas a 101"Ws. It has a G62 and I think ii'm going to change it out for a BME 102 (This thing is a brick) I built two of them 25 years ago at the price of $6000.00 for both and his has been rebuilt two times. I wish i could afford a Radial for both, man that would be sweet! l also have two TF P-47 to rebuild. I do more work in retirement then i did when i was working, guess thats better than being dead! lol The hold up on the Zero is retracts. BUT! No puns on your Mom! Love her for a long time, for if not for our Mom's we would not be here!

Turns almost 9000 with the 18X8 Dynathrust when she's swilling 30% nitro!

Yeah well, even IF your G26 could spin an 18x8 @ 9000 (Zenoah claims 8900 W/a 16x8) you are still only making about 1/2 the weight specific output. Your G26 weighs almost 3 1/2# sans the HEAVY muffler while the FA-180 weighs less than 2#.
Then there's the chainsaw sound to contend with.

Last night I picked up a T100. It was mounted but never run and looks great. It should look and perform really nice on the front of my new Piper Cub (on order). I've never owned a twin before and need to figure out tuning. Any suggestions?

Hey sammy that harvard/t6 sounds interesting.A flying mate has a yellow t6 that had a 120 two stroke in it(cough, hiccup, sounds of someone being violently sick)but has seen the light and is fitting a brand new 200r3 saito radial and you know what i don't like? he's going to get to fly his before i get to fly mine.Payback is so sweet tho..since he's a qualified instructer i talked him into some buddy box time on his harvard with the 200r3 so we can do some aerobatics and if i get to carried away he can take his finger off the button and give me a good telling off while he lands it,it's sure to happen we don't miss each other by much as it is when flying the 82's.

Old Fart, on T6's, I was one of the people who got ANR108a (warbirds legislation) enacted in OZ. We then assisted in the import of 2 x Harvards into OZ. Reg numbers VH SNJ and VH PEM. SNJ is now in Towoomba and looks really good, don't know ere PEM is. As an OAP I find people think that I have heaps of time on my hands, no way. Now on nitro I will only admit to using up to 30% and no more. And old fart if you come over to compete I won't lend you any fuel, no point encouraging the opposition. For radials, we have a couple of big Moki's the odd Saito and a couple of those Siedel radials now being made in India. They appear to be "good value" The sun is out after our little bit of rain yesterday and I reckon I can hear the grass already growing. Catch ya

How much do you spend for a gallon of 30% nitro fuel?
CR
Trev if we get over there to fly comp i reckon you'd owe us some of your home brew fuel after all the money we spent getting there from all the way over here...it's that or the home brewed rocket fuel afterwards.
Charley i spend enough on nitro to make the engine bark and me smile.

I don't have the G26 any more. Sold it to a guy from CO, in a 100" WS Eflite Super Cub w/an 18x8 Zinger on it. It jumped off the ground when power was applied. Had a good muffler on it and fuel was <$4 a gallon with oil.

I can can now mix 10% lube W/straight methanol for a little over $8 a gallon & still make more HP per pound of engine weight than the G23.
In the grand scheme of things, the small relative saving on fuel cost doesn't offset the safety issues during transport, the obnoxious smell of gasoline and the even more obnoxious 2-stoke sound.

Old Fart a bunch of you guys are coming to Canowindra next Easter you should hook up with them and get a real lesson in Saito (and other 4 stroke) performance. But of course you have to get here, knowing you lot you'll probably get lost on the way, unless you fly of course.

Here's a plain old glow ignition FA-180 on a (104") 1/4 scale cub. Doesn't seem to be lacking power to me.

Hi there O.F. no go on the 100 just yet . You know the deal , to much to do and so little time . Well sounds good anyway ! I forgot I even had the thing at some stage ( how bad is that ) . Funny enough I cant decide on a plane , had a ugly stick in mind so I could show it off in all its glory and then found a plan for a ford flivver that I always have had a soft spot for so Im no closer . From word of mouth here at the club they seem like good runners but one guy had issues with the crank bending a wee bit but no doubt it took a dirt nap 1st . Check out " outerzone " for some free plans , just got them blown up to suit . Just got 2x OS 40 gf gassers so that has my attention as well along with a big ryan sta , a short cut kit of a big uglystik ( lasercut kits ) . Add that to a nemesis , a yak ( i think ) and some other kit just sitting there as well as all my planes that need to be worn out 1st so I can find the room so you can see Its a hard life . Dont fancy your drive across the desert , what with the B.O. and a mobile fart tank no wonder you'll be as high as a kite .The zorro out fit is ok just dont do it naked . We have laws over here for that . I know things in W.A. are a bit more liberal but we have standards . Cheers the pope

Yes old fart you watch out for the watermelons, especially the prune faced variety. Now I have been reading the comments on the G26 and wondering who the "underworldl" you would drive an a/c so big with such a small engine THEN the light switched on you weren't talking about the hot shot Supre Tigre I have rather one of those outdated Zenoahs. Oh well seniors moments happen. Popey I emphasise with your situation so I made a decision while "infirmed" to clear up all the outstanding desireable models by assembling all the ARF's (4) that I had under the bench and in some cases I plan to move the odd one on. Off course they will be less any Saitos I fit to them. Then I will be clear to get back to real building. On lase cut kits check out Wolf Models taking into account the current offerings in OZ you will not beat his service, cost and quality. He cuts to order and supplies high quality materials as well
