OK, so i want to get a brushless system in my TT-01 in a couple of months... Do you guys recommend a 6900 or 7700? As for li-po's, should i get a 7.4V 4200 or a 11.1V 3300? Any gearing issues i'd have (overheating, etc)?
Finally, will my plastic spur gear take the abuse? What about my diff gears?

Sorry that i've posted the same questions in a separate thread, i just want answers.

Have any of you guys use the 3racing Graphite Upper Deck For Tamiya TT-01 If so do you know if the Tamiya Stabilizer set will fit. I cant seem to find the tamiya upper deck on ebay so i might just have to get the 3racing one.

Well I guess it does not really mattar if you use the patch on a tt-01 cause the chassis is plastic. But if you had metal on metal contact and there was any vibration it could glitch the radio pretty bad. Thats on an aluminum chassis tho.

psychorevo that is a really nice tt-01. I am going to pick up the HPI AE86 190mm pretty soon. I am guessing that is the one you have. How much offset would you reccommend?
Thanks for the comments guys.

This the a 190 mm body and I have 9mm in the back and 3mm in the front. That's my setup anyway. Good luck and hope your '86 turns out sweet.

I would get the 7700 Mamba but I don't think it could handle 3 cell. The max it could handle is 2 cell lipo.

If you want 3 cell, the 5700 is king. I have the 5700 in mine and it is an amazing drifter. I have friends with Cyclones and Yokomos and believe it or not, some prefer my setup because it is soooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. Good luck. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard the 6900 has reliability issues. I have both the 7700 and the 5700 for almost two years and thoses things haven been working perfectly.

So I have had the tt for what 3 weeks? My R-34 shell did not turn out soo good but it was my first, plus its kinda ratty now anyways Soooo its hop up time!

I don't wanna go overboard on it. I don't like bling I think its stupid and a waste of money. All I want is more out of my car.

To start I think I'm going with

-HPI AE 86 body
-Tamiya Superstock TZ
-Metal motor mount
-Carbon upper deck
-Aluminum clamp wheel hexes ( I really want these )
-Adjustable upper arms
-Adjustable turnbuckle set
-And some cool lookin HPI rims with 6 mm offset.

Might wait a week or two on ordering this stuff. Wanna put a couple checks in the bank first.

Wow, great choice of hop-ups.

I have them all and my TT-01 is just amazing because of them. Nice choice of shell too, hehe.

Pics please!!!!!!!

Hey guys, I am new to this forum.
Had my TT-01 for about 6 months and bought almost all the hopups that are available through RcMart (good service and cheaper than my LHS). It has 28/55 gearing with a silver can. It is already going fast enough for the local asphalt track, which is fairly technical with some hairpin corners that are great for power sliding. This is my second shell and chasis, as the first ones (Audi) got bashed up severely during various practice runs (in the hairpin corners!).

It is standard, I think 27 turns. Nothing special, but I ran it in properly (in water and gave it plenty of WD40 afterwards) which makes a big difference.

I got the bearings right off the bat as well as the aluminum propshaft.

Hi guys,

I was building my TT-01 yesterday and I am not entirely satisfied with the rear thing that the prop shaft fits in. It is not entirely straight (like 1-2mm difference) compared to the one on the front of the car and when you press a little bit on it, it gets straight. I have assembled the gearbox etc correct.. Just that I thought it would be better than this. I use an alu prop shaft.. Anyone else experience this? Is it worth upgrading those prop shaft end things to alu ones? Will they fit better? Maybe I am too anal about this issue? My wife couldn't see a difference when I asked her.

Yes, painted it metallic blue. Like that glossy colour better than plain white. It also matches my "real"car which is a metallic blue Focus.

I doubt it. The chassis design is pretty different for example.

What's the difference between TL-01 and TT-1?

I know the center of the chassis differs but is the suspension the same?

Is it worth it to spend the extra money and go with the TT-01?

Not sure why you'd want to convert one to the other. What discernable advantage does the TL have over the TT?
