My motor overheats after about 10 minutes of playing with it... some people here said that the gearing's too high and i need to lower it because my motor can't take the load, and others were saying that the motor is reaching max RPM's too high and is overheating like that so i need to gear it higher.

Thats wierd My gears are still mint and I did not even put grease on them But its no secret that the tamiya pinions are made of crappy metal. I guess they have to keep the cost of their kits down somehow.

Oh and Raguvian I don't think hitting high rpm's will overheat an electric motor only heavy loads so just put the stock gears on there again or something. Your sig says you have a 12 turn? Thats a high performance motor right? So maybe try a heat sink with a fan.
I know one thing I have no worrys about overheating anything here this time of year. Damn its cold today [:'(]

It is stock gearing though, 19/61.
Shall I buy a 17 t pinion or something? My friend told me to leave it as is and not use the brakes.
And I already have the heat sink on it. I don't know how i'd attach a fan to it though.

Naw I would not buy a 17t pinion that cant be the problem. Not using the breaks would help but other than that I'm stumped. Maybe someone with more motor experience can help you[sm=confused.gif]

A 17t pinion would undergear it more, wouldn't it?
Or maybe it was because i drove it on a very hot day?

Ya it would but the stock gearing would not put too much strain on your motor anyways so it cant be the problem.

Oh, that's right. Stupid motor mount.[:@] Thanks for reminding me before i bought one.
I have a Duratrax Intellispeed 12T ESC (that also got flaming hot too when i ran the car, but i was running the car really hard that day, probably shouldn't have used the brakes so much). Also, the Orion motor is in great shape because i've only run it 3 times.
So I guess i can't gear the car any lower then, because the 61t spur is the biggest i can buy, or else i have to cut the bottom of the chassis to get more clearance for a bigger spur.
I'll just leave it as is and never use the brakes (unless i'm going to crash into something).

Looks good man. I would not have gone with the alum arms and nuckles but everything else is sweet. How is the steering with the alloy rack and those adjustable turnbuckles? The stock setup is real sloppy I bet that stuff really helps. Also what shocks are those and how well do they hold their oil?
