Dave what do you think about the old instructions re syn and castor just to get the discussion rolling and there are some other interesting points if people read it.

As a starter here's an attempt at humour.Take it as a given that you were bought up on castor (for medicinal purposes) and that when you fart you leave a coloured skid mark in your jocks that looks very similar in colour to a well baked castor covered muffler. Are the synthetic clean burning oil brigade saying they don't suffer this problem??

Good morning Pete, coffee half gone, I can see straight now, the tiny one is sleeping much longer at a stretch. I started out using Fox 15% fuel with 20% castor in an Enya .46 MKII, a high compression Saito .80, 15.5 to 1 cr and the first 1.50 sold that year, 11.24 to 1 cr. That fuel did not castorate the engines like it was supposed to, except for the mufflers. I now use Wildcat 10% 2/4 full synthetic, 18%. it works very well, I have never worried about a little oil on the plane

The sight is a Pacific K-2. It slides into the magazine cut-off and is locked in place by a set screw. No D&T required. I lucked into it on e-bay last year & outbid another guy in the closing seconds. Paid $113.50 for it. It has micrometer windage/elevation screws. I keep an Allen wrench & 2 differing sized (.093", .063") apertures in the butt plate trap. I use a .125" aperture for hunting.
The Krag is problematic for receiver sights as the sight must be removed or elevated quite a distance to remove the bolt.. By removing the elevation lock thumbscrew one can access the set screw. 1/2 turn of the set screw & the sight slides out to the rear. There is no need to disturb the windage/elevation settings so the zero is not disturbed.
The shot was straight on from a rest at 120 yards. He was standing in a small opening in the brush about 20 yards from the edge. The shot took him cleanly through the spine. Dropped him in his tracks.

To quote a very wise man, "I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man."
Congrats on the rifle, stock, sight, eyesight and groceries. :-)

It's like a dog barking at the moon in a vacuum, nobody can hear them. At least the ones they most want to annoy can't.

Needs minor repair, covering.

Pete, I'm a self taught expert at blending and pre-heating fuel, however that doesn't make it burn clean. To be honest, I'd much prefer wiping castor off of a plane. Brooklyn is now 45 days and 9 lbs. She'll be holding her own bottle in a couple more days.
We're having 70ish weather so I got to squeeze in a few miles on big green.
I'm going work on getting a better idle on the FA .40, I'm close to acceptable. 2,300, I'd like to see 2,000

Aside from the receiver sight, which was sorely needed due to the horrible GI rear sight, and the lack of some gaudy fake (plastic) ivory inlays, it has the same lines & general overall look.

Dan, did you or do buy those Stoeger Shooters Bibles, Us four boys would buy our Dad a new one every year. I remember the 30-40 Krag. I remember the 220 Swift was the fastest gun in there at the time a 4,110 fps. I'm sure tht's slow by todays standards.
