Welcome to Club SAITO !
Dave the name Quigley is the name of my dog from the 20 years ago Named after the film Quigley down under (Part of which was filmed in Warrnambool around 1991) I had friends who were extras in that film. The dog was a great winner in dog shows in the 90s. So there is the reason for the name....... As to the engines I have 2 125s great motors but I like the 100 and I have 5 of them so I think the number is 16 I would need to have a roll call to make sure . There could be more Here is the list from small to large 1 X 30 , 3 X 45s . 4 X 65s . 1X 72 . 5 x 100s . 2 X 125s . 1 X 170R that's 17 that I can remember. that would be close I've only sold one ever to a Mate who was in need of an 65 for an old timer.
Pssst barry i think quigs is braggin off and starting to sound dangerously like a woodpecker (no harm meant quigs) don't stress everyone i'll donate the sun glasses

Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite films, along with Lonesome Dove, Tom Selleck has several westerns and all are excellent. Another of my faves is Australia with Nicole Kidman.
The fact that you speak well of your 1.25's is going to draw some ire from OF, be prepared. I'll talk him into partaking of some mellow juice. I need to put a little more break in time on my new 1.25a. Well, that's a picture of the new 1.25a box and a 1.00 I rebuilt.

I kniow the joke well and there is no way I could post it here, the mods would have a conniption fit and rightfully so! So I will do something rare in this thread and self censor. I make no promises of this ever happening again!
Over the weekend I stumbled across a used Gemini 1.60 twin at a extremely reasonable price to be shipped to the buyer from a flyspeck town not far away. I suspect the guy isn't a flier and I equally suspect the engine to be an earlier first generation model of unknown origin. I'm debating whether to make a ridiculous low-ball offer to see if he will take it. Caveat would be he would have to meet me at a neutral place of my choosing, probably a police substation.

Saito 82 Carb screw
Well my new carb screw came in today but it's giving me fits. This is the screw that holds the carb in place with the small lock washer. If I push the carb all the way in then finger tighten the screw down the carb arm won't move freely what am I doing wrong?

I found it may feel like it is in the groove and get that to happen. Wiggle the barrel as you insert the screw, you should feel no resistance until the screw bottoms in the housing. Did you verify the screw fits in the groove of the barrel?

I can get it to where the screw slides into the groove then I either get the carb arm not moving freely or I get the barrel with a lot of play.

OK I was got it finally my only issue now is I put a small drop of loctite on it and I finger tightened it but I don't have a wrench that small anyone know what size it is?
Dave what I failed to mention is that the film was made in Warrnambool and some place in Western Australia '' Tom " was only in town for a few days for the filming of one of the port arrivals . Warrnambool is my home town Thanks for the welcome ,I would have replied sooner but the sight was giving a problem of dropping out every few seconds. All is working OK now. I do love the Saito motor . their is something about the way the run and idle all day if needed

Thanks Quig, I've been running Saitos since about 1991, they're all good. I watch all the nature shows about Australia when I can catch them.
P3, you're missing the slot, look in the hole for the slot to appear before inserting the screw.

I have only 1 Saito - a 180 4-stroker.
Is there a certain number of engines you have to have before you are eligible to be part of the "Brotherhood" ?

Pearl loctite is like krytonite to superman.Imagine you just got home from a long days work and greeted all and sundry in the house. Finally you have some quiet time in the kitchen with the missus having a quiet face to face chat when a magiver risky thought flits thru the brainbox so you spin the missus around and giver her a playfull kick up the tootsie, everbody knows how dangerous that is.

I need to dig out the list. I thought nobody was interested some time back and we somehow ended up forgetting about it. Keep in mind that the first 500+ members were listed in this thread by Bill Robison. Mine are handwritten on a notepad, but they are orderly.

Cap I fly an LT 25 with one of my .30's, on deeper grass I run a 10.5x5 and well mowed grass I run a 10x5.5. The plane almost jumps off the grass when using the 10.5x5. Tach picture is the 10.5x5.
