Trains-?
One thing i have allways wondered about here on RCU is the fact they never seem to want to have a train catagory.Model trains have been around for a long time and still are popular today.I would guess a lot of members here, have or still do amoung their other hobbys still work on train layouts.Model railroading has come a long way from what they were in the past and some can be considered as close to rc as you can get.As we all know Tower Hobbies is one of the big advertisers here on RCU,yet it is like they don't sell train related items.Well for those who may not know they carry a very big line of model train items in HO and N gauge.I know because over several years I have bought a lot of railroad stuff from them.Hope RCU might give the model railroad hobby a try and see how it would work out.A lot of neat things to be seen that is being done in the model railroad hobby.

I kinda agree with ya......I still have my Lionel trains from Christmas of 1946, and a lot of HO train sets collected over the years. But I never regard any of that as R/C because it is restricted to a confining track setup (unless I run it into a curve too fast, then it becomes a free ranging train wreck).

Actually i guess Trainsare not on here because Trains are not RC
yes trains have been around for many years but we are into tank and other armoured vehecles
i think we should try to promote the Tanks as much as possible because they are not well known
i for one did not know about them until Stince bought one and asked me to paint it for him
even then i waited a year until i got my first Tank
but the Tankers Lounge was for talking about anything you wanted to talk about
i miss my train i to had a Lionel train all i have is the Engine left but it has seen better days i will get a pic of it later on

That layout is insane! They said their longest train is 14.51 meters. That's 47.6 feet. I find that to be amazing considering my experience with HO trains [X(]

Like to see that train in operation.Would like to see how many engines they are using and if they have them placed throught out the train. Can't picture all the engines on the head end pulling as many cars as it would take to make up that length of train and it staying on the track going around much of a curve.Figure it would take 50 or more cars pluse five or more engines to get in that size range.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
Yea, I'm still alive, no thanks to Idjit nephew.
Well, I got retired a few weeks ago, and then got another infection in my central line. Got the antibiotics, no sweat, and had a great Xmas day with the family. Spent much of it sitting with youngest nephew (he was 6 a few months ago) putting Lego kits togetyher, and he's made the jump to being able to read and follow the directions. Even my sis (his mom) says he'staking after me, though there is no blood relation between us (adopted)
I get home, tired and thankful I got some more Mead (yea, LCBO got with the program, brought in Moniack Mead again) and went to use the outhouse... Hey, whats this? Dam, Musta snapped a cap off the line (look aghain) Oh... thats the end thats supposed to be IN me... (*suddden worry about bleeding from the vein*)
Got myself BACK to Emerg, they said my BP was fine so I probably wasn't bleeding, put a temp in the back of my right hand so I could keep going with my antibiotics, and sent me home " Come back Tomorrow Morn (Monday) to see the specialist " I did, and they decide to admit me. I had a registration/admission braclet on at noon, but dinna get the room until 15:00. Luckily had a decent doc, cleared me for dilaudid for my back, and my gravol too! Minor downside was a roomie that had been hit by a car, and his head still wasn't straight, they ended up having to take his bed out to the nurses station to watch him (instead of using restraints) so he wouldn't get up and then fall... They popped a fresh Hickman in Thursday morn, and so fast I had time to actually eat breakfast afterward before they collected the trays! Was released just before dinner (shoulda stayed, the roast beef & mashed tater is decent) as I was antsy to get home.
No issues since, just catching up on general stuff around the house. Almost ready to start on the bridge. I got the wood I chopped up sorted for the major framing, may have enough for TWO large ones with approach ramps.
Only downside is... now that twerp is in Halifax, much of my leverage apart from the car is gone, and he says his Note payments wont resume until MARCH. Well, no $ for me, no car for him.
Still hanging in there...
WhiteWolf
EDIT Jan 11: Got a call I dinna wanna get: Twerp has his license in NS, wants the car for about Feb 15, and wants.needs me to get the gas pump fixed on the tab. I agreed under the condition that he signs a new note, as he cannot restart payments until March (and still owes $1165 at this point) So I'll be in the market for a 5 speed standard Ford Focus Wagon by the time the snow begins to disappear... (if it hasn't by that time) Wish me luck guys...

Took the perfect day off (at least that is for January) to work on tanks, look out the window at all the snow falling and heating up a Stouffer's Deluxe French Bread Pizza in the oven. Gotta finish modifying the Tamiya mantlet for my Panther now that I have a DP05 sleeve to install.
No way to pull off making anything as close as Daryl's part, even though I searched all over for something that would work.

Unfortunately it's all urban myth, Lee Marvin was wounded at Saipan, Bob Keeshan joined the marines to late to serve in combat and Fred Rogers never served in the military.

RE: The Tanker's Lounge
I took the Panther and the Leo out to play today. Sunny and warm ( 46F ) so the snow was not too good, but my hands never got cold.
The Panther did great running all over the place. I did some hill climbing and side hills with it that amazed me. It churned through the snow with power and never got clogged tracks. A monster machine looking for trouble!
The Leo got clogged tracks and became stuck. I had to post hole out into the snow to retreve it.
Most of these tracks are the Panther... first pic is looking South, the second pic is looking North. This is my humble Tankland.
They can be nowadays, still have to stay on a track, but they do have wireless controllers.

Those snow photos are absolutely terrific. It's perfect. Eye candy!
If I had scenery around my house like that I could really get interested in this hobby.

We do have lots of good scenery around here, more than enough to go around. But like the old timers say " you can't eat the scenery" I have not had a real job in 5 months.
Good thing these tanks have rechargeable batteries, I can play for almost free! If I recharge at the cabin it is free, the cabin is on solar and off the grid.

Nice. I have fun making these tanks look as real as I can. Some of it is in the modeling, some in the painting, and some in the computer software.
One of these pix was taken in Colorado, but perhaps one of them was taken in France... Who knows.
I too once thought of one of these, so I know where you're at. BUT, too many out of box projects already are keeping me from adding on.
