Welcome to Club SAITO !
Dave i was hoping that apart from richard and acdc (no offence intended) other members would have shown more interest in your 'getting to know' phase with the fg11 gas engine,i have a few questions myself as regards your comments on priming,also rpm,non standard ignition and prop choice.They differ a lot from my experience with the fg57t in an edge540v3 with saito ignition module as you would expect and i run klotz il200 syn in that engine at 20/1,plenty of oil but hard to relax about that when you are used to running glow and seeing it all over the place.They also feel like they run hotter,making cowl ducting more important as in do it right.I think most of us don't bother as a cowled glow installation is hard to get wrong given how cool our glow engines run but i like others have tried,never seized one yet.

Thanks Jim, the one for the Saito .62 should work, the FG 11 is a .66 unless you think it might need a little more volume due to being a .66.
Fire away with your questions Pete, I'll get answers if I can. It's going to be 64 here today, a great day for playing. As to priming, mine pulled fuel to the carb just by flipping it. The 13x6 Xoar should be perfect. The lube oil is Mercury two stroke full synthetic for water or air cooled engines. So far I've screwed the LS needle in about 1 1/4 turns, the HS is at 2 turns out now, it was 4 to start with. I received a 6v battery yesterday for the stock Saito ignition, it had a week, pink spark on 4.8 volts, it's rated for 6 to 8.4, I think.
PS, Adrian sells both the C&H Ignition and the RCXel.

Hi Flyer, I am still getting the notifications, but the links are 'dead', i.e., I cannot click on them to get to RCU. I have to cut and paste them into a browser... a real bummer. This plus your problem is convincing me that the problem is on the RCU end, and not mine (or yours).

All in favor of sending OF a few gallons of Synthetic oil, say AYE!
I need to get me or make an engine test stand. Now I want to fire up that FG-11 and play with it a bit. Along with a few other Saito I have laying around. I wonder how the 56 will run without a muffler attached. I forgot what prop I used on the 11, it got decimated when I buried the nose into the ground two knuckles deep. It was an APC and I think it may have been a 13x6.

Make sure you report it so it will catch their attention.

Thanks Jim, and it works'
Saito FG 11
Prop===Xoar 13x6
Fuel===Gulf Gasoline, 89 octane ethanol free/Mercury Marine two stroke full synthetic compatible with water or air cooling@ 20 to 1.
Stock FG 11 Ignition=RCXL
95 minutes total run time, I ran the tank 1" lower than the first run, there was no difference in the running.
Max rpm stock muffler== 9,155
Max rpm Turbo Header==9,293
RPM with both=2,150
High Speed needle is sensitive one click lean with stock muffler =9,100
One click lean with TH==9,240
The TH has that same deep throb as the glow engines.
That's it, it's a keeper.

Hey My friend,I just joined also. What do you think of your Saito.65? I love mine, Excellant transition to full power. And I can get mine to idle so long you can count each power stroke.15 works best for me
Dave there are no virgins here but that's off track.Priming sounds very simple on the fg11 did you say what airframe it is going in and would you choose a flying prop on top rpm bench running speeds or try a few at the field.If the pope seems a bit blunt it's a common thing here in aussie and i have a theory as to why popo gets a bit crazy sometimes,bear with me please.Ya see popo used to be a mad meateater i reckon till way back they had a huge scare with 'mad cow disease' in europe which made cows fall over everywhere,brain spungeyform something..in short it made your brain look like a cross section cut of low density foam and so popo fell off the meateating wagon really hard,a man can suffer on a strict vegetarian diet,man all that spinach.

It's going on to a GP Cherokee 40, the Cherokee will fly with any prop that will move it. I'll have to do a little work on the Cherokee so I can use the Saito metal mount in lieu of the glass reinforced GP mount.

Yes sir, it sure does. Of course the LS needle in this case, like most Saitos now is a sleeve over top of the spray bar, much like thus one.

Do you mean moving the firewall back a bit because the saito cast ally mount is longer and do you think you need to run that mount for a heatsink? crankcase temps seem to be higher.
Close but no cigar i watched a movie called blazing saddles in the early seventies and it left a large impression.Name me a popular movie since then where you have heard one of the main actors fart,let alone the extras.If we could stand back to back with a huge bowl of baked beans in front i'll tell you right now i'll cheat and bring a hipflask of castor oil.
