The bottom line on this chart is for glow plugs with a gasket, I use 22 inch pounds, that is firm but not killer tight. 32 threads per inch is a shallow angled thread so they pull hard. If you use a cross bar style wrench use thumb and forefinger only. No fist.

Thanks but never used a torque wrench to tighten a glow plug. To me, was never that serious. Finger tighten and then a very slight extra nudge. I have been flying since 2005 or so and never had an issue until with this 200ti. The rear access plugs are extremely hard to get to even with fingers. So I used my normal socket which the tolerance was pretty much 0 and felt tight. I think this added to the issue.

I slip a piece of fuel tube onto the glow plug post and use that to align the plug with the threads and screw in until the fuel line slips on the post. Sorry if I preached, on here you never know how much someone knows or doesn't know. I got my first glow engine for Christmas in 1956, a McCoy .35. I still have it. I use torque wrenches religiously for everything.

Yeah I have 4 torque wrenches. Lesson learned for me. Do not even know if a torque wrench would of help considering the tightness of the socket against the head. Probably would have triggered the torque wrench to break prior to actually torquing down. Either way I messed up.
If I can find that brass insert I am good. The cylinder threads look good.

I had a buddy with a 73 Vega that had a 4 cylinder engine that would expel sparkplug inserts on a regular basis. Then again he drove like a maniac with his foot in the carburetor. He kept threatening to drop a V8 racing motor in it but got hard up for cash and sold the engine. It was 350 ci. mapped, blueprinted, and putting out about 400 Hp. Even with a subframe I'll bet it would have twisted that little car the first time he stepped on the gas.
Madza GLC would blow out their plugs also, even driven moderately. But, they had no inserts at all for the plugs in the aluminum head. In the 200ti, is the insert for easier access to the plugs? Are the cylinders for the 200Ti the same as for the FA100? TNX
I had a couple Vegas too, but never popped a plug. The issue with Vega motors was that the head was cast iron and the block was aluminum with no sleeves. I had a 73,75,76,77 Vega with sleeved block. Burned no oil! Had very little rust, and a 2 speed Powerglide.

I had a 1973 Vega Kamback wagon with the 110 hp two barrel engine, the handling package with the wider wheels and tires and the option 3 speed automatic.
I ran my early Saito .62 today for the first time in a while.
Horizon claims 9,900 with 30% nitromethane and an APC 13x6
Saito .62 plane Jane
Fuel====Wildcat 10% 2&4 with 18% full syn.
Plug====OS-f
Prop====Xoar 13x6
Exhaust==Stock
Max rpm=9,450
Idle 2,000, very smooth
9,450 slightly off peak for smoother running.
TurboHeader tomorrow.

So I emailed horizon repair and they do not sell the brass inserts and you have to buy a whole head. So I ask if there are any other saito that have the brass inserts and I could just buy a damaged used head. He said he did not know seriousl .
So if I did buy a rear head, how would it run new compared to the head with 2 gallons of gas. I ask because obviously I would need to break in the new head with a new ring and they would always have different run time , Or would you all say screw it and buy a 180 and call it a day.

The FA-200Ti uses modified FA-91 cylinders and a longer stroke to make 1 cu in displacement per cylinder. They are "dual plug" engines and have the brass plug liner where the 2nd glow plug plug is located between the pushrods.

do you know if anyone sells it? Or if I can buy it from a part store or something?

AKkAnothet
do you know if anyone sells it? Or if I can buy it from a part store or something?
Another post mentioned Clarence Lee as having fixed one. Try him, maybe he will sell you just the insert. If not, I recommend sending the cylinder to him, or even the whole engine if that suits you. He will fixx it right as he has.fir.many years.

You know, this has to be the best thread on RCU. It sort of has a personality and quirks. One of the quirks is that we get into Chevy Vega stories from time to time. Who else would be talking about those rolling Coke cans? I had a 73 GT after my 73 standard Vega was totaled. Hey FlyerInOk, that's a 92 Vega. Know how you can tell?
Pete- speaking of guys at the field who know everything, my wife gets stubborn about things at times. She's getting much better about it, but I have to take time to prove her wrong from time to time.

rowdog_14,, any one that is good with a lathe could turn you that Insert,, contact "RM3" on the RunRyder Heli Forum,, he has made Connecting Rods and Crank Shafts, and Clutches for the Zenoha 20cc,, and many other Heli parts,, I'm 100% sure he could make that Insert, and I'm 99% sure he would do it for you,,, he would most likely need to buy a 1/4x32 Tap
get over to RunRyder and Did-er-done !
BTW, the Chevy Corvair engine didn't utilize Cam Bearings
