A check valve in the line going from the off board tank to the turbine will stop any excess gas contained in the tank after disconnect. The ball valve in the line going from the tank to the Powemax must be turned off to prevent venting off the off board tank. I just answered this in the PST sub-forum.
The Start Tube is a good idea especially for those initial starts. Good luck on the maiden startups and flight.

So I guess I can just use the one way to fill the ob tank instead of using a T. I dont have anymore ball valve and would have to order one. Wanna try and run this thing.. Been waiting too long lol....
Tried screwing on the trigger valve to one of my powermax bottles and cant get any fluid to come out. Guess its a bad bottle. Tried two triggers valves too. There is liquid in it, just no pressure to let any liquid flow. Tried pressing the trigger with can upright and upside down. Will try another bottle..

Without seeing what you are trying to do in a sketch or something, my comments are more generic.
I THINK you want to have the starting gas be external to the plane. If so, my point is that unless you have some sort of valve, the starting gas inlet line will be exposed to the internal pressure of the running turbine. Maybe you can get away with this but in my experience you can get visible vapor/disconcerting stuff coming out of the inlet port.
As for the OFFBOARD stuff, there are a lot of ways of doing that, pick your poison.
EDIT: are you having a solenoid still in the plane? If so I am not sure what you are trying to save yourself by doing this?

That was just a picture of the oneway check valve I have on the line from the solenoid. Forget about the clear tube and black nipple. I would then just hook up the OB canister like this one in the pic to that one way valve and presto right? Pictured here is how I would fill the canister. Am I correct? Once the OB canister is filled and I release the trigger no more gas/propane should flow out of the powermax bottle i hope..

With the trigger assembly mounted on the Powermax canister, nothing else attached, you should get a blast of butane/propane which instantly turns to a gas when the trigger is pulled. Do this outdoors away from any ignition sources, please. If there is no blast then the Powermax canister is empty or the trigger assembly is defective. With a blast you can connect the output tubing of the trigger assembly to an onboard or off board tank via Festo connector- as shown in the photo. Fill the tank by pulling the trigger- You should see liquid butane/propane flowing into the gas tank. Disconnect the Powermax trigger assembly and no gas should flow back out the one-way Festo valve. Next connect the Festo to the input of the gas solenoid and command a "Start" from the GSU/HDT. When the solenoid opens (clicking sound) gas should flow into the turbine from the tank for ignition. You should hear a "pop" as the gas ignites and begin to see a rise in EGT and RPM. Switchover to kero/Jet-A should follow in the ramping process with the turbine running. This process should be detailed in the PST Operating Manual.

So couldnt get any of the powermax bottles to work so went with straight coleman propane and it started fine. Did the auto calibration and it worked fine. throttled up once and back down, fine. second time i powered up right about full throttle it flames out. any ideas? could it be the vent too small? or Fuel lines too small? im using recommended 4mm fuel tubing. It will idle forever. just when I go to full throttle it flames out..

Also couldnt get the tx to start the turbine. Had to use the GDT everytime.. It was calibrated and bound again

That temp looks pretty hot to me. Did you notice where it's at at idle? How much of the engine is covered with your startup thrust tube and is there airspace around the engine? Did you try pulling the tube away before throttling up?

Pull the EGT probe outward from the tailcone- only about a 1/16th " or so and retry. This should lower your EGT and shutdown issues. However, it may take a might longer to ramp on starting. 740C is not considered high during start or full power runs. This temp should drop at a throttle setting just above idle- to about 450C or so.
Glad you got your starting gas problems ironed out.

I just viewed your video and it appears that the startup tube is too close to the turbine and causing the high temp during full power runs. Back this start tube so that there is a slight, 1/2 to 3/4" gap between the end of the tailcone and the start tube. Note that the start tube can be removed from the setup once the turbine has ramped and running. I also noted a Coleman green bottle propane canister for the starting gas. This is the preferred setup for folks without a trigger assembly or Powermax canisters. I use both but prefer the Powermax and trigger assembly instead of fooling with the regulator on the green bottle propane.

Will try try and pull the start tube back for starts but this also happened when I was taxiing the airplane around. Went to try full power and same thing happened.
But as the powermax bottles go. I must either been the lucky one and got two bad trigger valves or went through two bad bottles. One of the trigger valves was brand new I got from BVM. They found it in the shop. Gonna call them too cause they charged me 60 bucks for it. Will try backing out the egt prob a hair and see if that helps any. The green Colemans worked just fine. I opened it up all the way and no issues starting. No flames or anything. Just on auto shutdown I got that flame.

Well still have not maidened my Reaction. Still dealing with turbine issues but getting closer. Did find a fuel leak that was causing air to get into fuel system. That's been fixed. And for the turbine I contacted gentleman I purchased it from and he told me the settings he had for the ECU was for a 7000 elevation as he lived in Colorado. So I reset the Ramp values to the last time it was serviced which was in Thailand and at sea level. Hopefully that will get me a starting point and go from there. On off Reaction topic and I posted in turbine clinic, does anyone have an extra EGT Probe for the PST J600R turbine? Or know of one that will work with this turbine?
