Welcome to Club SAITO !

so I ordered a few APC props and I received them today, I will move over to wood after a few gallons. so I was looking at the 15X6, well it's impressive that, that little Saito 100 that actually weigh's (accordingly to my 2 manuals) the same amount (550g) as my OS 61FX weigh's, yet that little Saito 100 will turn that APC at 9,600, at the same weight that Saito has it all up on the OS
Saito, it's the little engine "that could"

sorry, I have to edit i got the numbers wrong
Dave, compare your Saito 30 numbers on your tach, to my OS 61FX/older Slimline Pitts at 11,800/with an APC 11X8, now add in the weight factor, and the Saito 62 /APC 13 x 6 prop at 9900 rpm,
the OS is a heavy dog, just a dog

Congratulations on reaching 76 and happy birthday to you.If the bike has been laid up all winter this can of aussie product can make things easy.If they could make it smell like diesel fuel i'd buy it by the carton.
ps bruce that roman red looks like a cuban cigar to me
Good for starting outdoor winter bbq's with a bic lighter
Maybe yeah maybe no pard.I'm 64 and remember the young days where comfort came a distant second to motorcycle riding adrenaline and the fact that you knew you knew it all.Nowadays i wait till it warms up before i go harley hunting in the hills on the duke, there's a lot of satisfaction to be gained from that in comfort
November 2011 Home From Work
2003 Guzzi Scura. One of 300 made
Well, at 68 the Guzzi gets regular use all winter long. The temperature is only a minor factor and single digit Fahrenheit is no barrier. Ice or deep snow will get the car out of the garage. At times I have had as many as six bikes. Never mothballed a bike for winter.
This is in Michigan and we do have winter season.
I bought the Scura from Moto Guzzi as a salvage, The Original engine had tossed a rod from the PO forgetting to add enough oil after an oil change, He then tossed a rod in the fresh engine, Guess why! I reground the crank, replaced the rod, rod and main bearings, The bike still runs strong today, Oh, I also replaced the oil cooler. Something the dealership should have done when they replaced the original,
There is a cafe racer converted 1975 850T Guzzi hiding behind the Scura, Another god winter ride

Jesse those 220's are a one of a kind finish compared to the other single saito's.
Dave, over here lately we've had a big run on white pointer shark attacks at our surfing beaches down south and it's caused a huge hoo haa in the media here.Don't know why because more people get killed going rock fishing each year, guessing the media sell more pages with that angle.Have we got a barracuda (hockey) surfing our pages?
ps jesse that photo of you on your guzzi covered in snow and ice demonstrates awesome endurance, you should get a gold medal the size of a frying pan for that one mate.

Back in my young and dumb days I rode a RD200 Electric with an after market fairing and no leather. I rode year round and I think riding in the snow and ice with insulated coveralls and a coat was no where near as miserable as riding in a driving thunderstorm with blue jeans, t-shirt and a think nylon windbreaker. The only dry was under the helmet!
A Saito 220 with what started out to be an exhaust thread repair. Retapped the head 1mm oversize. Rather than use the heavy OEM muffler, a straight pipe with coaxial anti-reversion pipe was fabricated and fitted.
The two sportbikes above are the only ones I have ever had with fairings or windshields. The Guzzi in the snow pic had a windshield when I bought it but got tossed in the trash as soon as it rolled off the truck. Cannot stand shields!
Rain has never been a deterrent to riding. At least no more so than with a car. Prefer to do it with rain gear but not always an option. Wet is certainly worse when combined with cold. Comfort isn't the only issue. Staying upright can be a challenge as well.
Jesse if you use complicated hard to spell words like wheelbarrow and marmalade people will have to google what a coaxial anti-reversion pipe means,so i did that.Do you think that any performance increase in our relatively small saito engines would be noticeable?
The guy did'nt like huge chromed letters on his tank so i sprayed the chief on there instead,he's bouncing off his rev limiter now and can't wait to ride the scout bobber.
I do like that tank! Just plain classic. The new Indians are coming around nicely too. Do you have a storefront paintshop? I may have to ship some sheet metal your way.
As far as the pipes go, maybe a hundred RPM but not likely from the anti-reversion thing. I was doing it more for sound than power. Back in the early 90s my son raced a 4 stroke kart with the Thunderbirds karting club. The anti reversionpipes were the big thing at the time. I sorta applied that to wuite a few four stroke RC pipes along the way.
The brass pipe on the Saito 150 was later given to a club member as it fit his Tiger Moth perfectly. Waiting tosee that plane fly this year.

Saito seems to have all the engine sizes from the FA 40a up through the 180 b in the new crank cases, the little 30 the lone A case engine left, if they even still manufacture it. There is even a Saito .72 b which I wonder if they actually sold any. Here's a shot of the 56b and the 72b. The 72 being the shinier one.
It sounds like a Cherry Bomb too. Good deep rumble. Nice thing is the very light weight. It does not stress the threads like the Saito trash can and iron pipe muffler system did. He has used it for about 4 years now and never came loose or gave any problems that I am aware of. Intalled wit SWAK and left it alone.
BTW, The engine is an FA-220.

The 10 x 6 Graupner Sonic pro
Graupner Sonic pro 11 x 6
Graupner Sonic Pro 10x6 & 11x6 I am going to break in a brand new FA .40-a with the 11x6 using both the stock muffler and a turbo header. The side profile kind of reminds one of a Sea Gull's wing, a very efficient air foil if there every was one.
I had to bore the 11x6 to .375" and then use a Tru-Turn bushing to .25".
