Too many irons in the fire. I'm waiting until I can free up some funds to rent headspace gauges and farm out the final headspacing locally. I don't trust mail order gunsmiths.. The chamber is sent "long" for final fitting in the action. According to my estimate, the throat is perfect if the proper amount is removed from the face. If some jackleg mail order gunsmith messes it up they may take a European spec reamer to the chamber and "long throat" it. I want to use 140 gr polymer tipped boat tail bullets, not the 175 gr RN that all the
old school guys go ga-ga over. I want the bullet to expend 90% of its energy in a big Northern Whitetail's ribcage, not penetrate an elephant's skull.
Loaded with modern high density powders with the 140 gr BT bullets in a modern high strength action such as the Vz 500 I am employing, it is the practical equivalent to the 280 Remington/7x64. It should be able to rop 3000 fps with the 140 gr Ballistic Tip bullet. + or - 3" (7.6mm) PBR out to about 310yds.

I built an LT25 back around 1998. Powered by an OS 26 four stroke. I often wished it had beed a Saito 30. I dont know if they improved the process but I really disliked the laser parts burned edges. The kit built very well otherwise. Came out a bit heavier than I had hoped.
I taught a fellow from work to fly on that plane and gave it to him. I think he still flys it at times..
The Jeep brand has been a survivor. Too bad the government had not given a contract for production to Bantam. Those Bantam employees did a fine job building the original in six weeks. Starting from a clean sheet of paper and producing an icon in such a short time. They were trying to save their company but right now they are pretty much keeping Chrysler alive.
I should insert a pic of mutant cow triplets here perhaps ?
Just kidding..,,,

If it weren't for Fiat, I might have ordered the new RAM. Too many horror stories about poor service and such. Really do like the new Ram though, but until crash safety comes out, going to stick with #1 instead.
I thought it was funny all the bantering over the cam lobes when I knew right away what he was talking about. LOL I have a partial built LT-25, I bought it for my daughter, she got one wing done and quit. My wife has a 4*20 too. Both will be electric powered, have everything for them. Now if I can just get them back to working on them.

The cow picture was real, triplets are one in 500,000 births. My Dad was in the picture. They were perfectly normal calves. They weighed 70 pounds each, not the normal 100 pounds.
The Saito 30 leans to the right 45 because I had an Irvine .40 Diesel in it and the muffler was too close to the engine. I leaned it over to clear the side. I just mounted the Saito the same way.
Have you run the 90T yet?
We assembled one last night at my buddies house. It went right together using the timing tool. Most important thing is getting the cams on the correct side.
Actually I enjoyed the pic of the calves.
I will PM my address right now. I am not sure if they always go out(PMs).

I responded to a complaint today about political name calling that got past me and other moderators. I edited the post and deleted the comment. Please keep the political stuff to yourself and don't hassle members via private messages.
And, was that straight pipe you wanted for a .65?
Did the litlle 45 degree elbows work out Ok?
I made a couple for myself They work well with regular pipes using jam nutts but not with the flanged pipes.
I can make a threaded insert that will allow them to work with the flanged straight pipes if you like.

Dave i remember those pics of your dad,but that milk wagon still cracks me up every time i see it.
Jim i can't sell you one of my fa115's cheap,or at all,i need them.I don't think the OS 95 being made in china is such a bad thing.I bought a chinese lawn mower 15 yrs ago and it has'nt missed a beat yet, never even changed the oil or checked the level and it's still got the same spark plug.Maybe OS wanted a manufacturing upgrade.
Gary here's a pic of my edge 540v3 with the fg57 in it,ignore the background

FA 30 With black straight pipe for 90 triple with pressure tap.
FA 30 With TurboHeader
FA 30 With stock muffler
Thanks Gary, the little elbows work great, I have experimented with both the .30 and the FA 40a using a TurboHeader. Here are the numbers for a straight pipe and the TH on the little 30. I'm ok with the straight pipe, no adapter needed, Thanks
Pet, we had two of those Jeeps, they got knocked around by the wind pretty badly but never upset. We found out the hard way that the Jeeps had grease fittings on the rear wheel bearings and required a shot of grease now and then. My Grandparents moved into that brick house in 1922 when Dad was 6, started the Hobbs Dairy in 1924 and lasted until 1976. I have a Chinese built OS .62v and a .95v, fine engines with impeccable machine work.
Thank you for the pic. What plane?
Saito FA-100 es FA-115:
Read with interest earlier some banter regarding the FA 100 and the now gone, but not forgotten FA 115.
Pulled one of my 115s today to transfer to another plane so I took a few measurements.
Weight wise, the 115 example I have, with drive hardware yanks the pull scale @ .580kg/20.4 oz . The 100 pulls @ .535 kg/18.9 oz w/ same trim. Not a huge difference it seems.
Worthy of note is that the prop hardware seems to account for a good share of that difference as the 115 has pretty substantial nuts and washers up front! The 115 prop shaft is about 5mm longer as well.
I have not looked up the actual dimensions for this quick-check but the 115 also appears to have a much beefier front ball bearing.
The overall height of the 115 is @ only 119.4 mm compared to the 100 which is taller @ 124.6 mm.

I'm happy you never said fa115 vs fa125...you'd need a full time moderator for that one.Sr tele is right up on saito sizes and foot prints so it would be good to hear his comments.
Dave do you know roughly what years saito changed up the different size engines and styles eg i have three fa82's,two of the old 'hi cam housing' and one new one with the flat/low cam cover...otherwise they are identical including prop figures.Actually the first fa82 i bought has by far the most flying hours on it and consistantly pulls a hundred or three rpm more than the others on an apc 14x6.
Sr have you chosen a stock for the 7x57?

No Pete, those years are really hard to figure out. the manuals even have confusing dates on them. I can talk about the 1.25 and the fact that it has a C&H unit on it if you want me to.
I am going to write that guy in NZ a real letter and see if I can get the plans for the 77.5" Ag Cat, woops, Pawnee Brave. I bought three 10 pound bags of shotgun bb's, (stainless) to weigh down the foam wing sheeting. They're in nice burlap bags with heavy stitching, no worries about them escaping.

Gary, you should make yourself a couple of Velocity Stacks for the 1.00 and 115 since the ones they sell are too small for 1.00 and up.
The 1.15 has it's own muffler it says so right on the cap.
Dave, You are so right about the velocity stacks!
The stack I made for the 150 is just a bit longer than the factory made stack.
My wife and I spent the day at the field yesterday. My Saito FA-82 in the Toledo Special cost me a bit more than just the fuel due to a very unusual "failure".
I had to replace my first glow plug since 2016!
Problem was probably caused by vibration. My helper tipped the plane into the starting stand before the flight. In the air, I noticed the plane just did not sound right When I throttled back to land, the engine quit.
Checked it out and sure enough we had lost about 11 mm from only one prop tip from hitting the stand.
Replaced the prop but on restart we had the classic engine quits when glow driver is removed scenario.
A quick look confirmed a distorted element in the OS F plug. One new plug and we were back flying.
The whole thing probably took less time to finish...
..... than it took to write about.
But it was nice and HOT out and barely a breeze.
Gotta love it.

Jesse, the next time you make/turn yourself a new engine stand like the ones in your photos use brass and polish them, they'd be snazzy
BTW, I am going to start calling you Gary now, after reading your last post I'm thinking Jesse is your wife

Gary is fine,"Jesse" came frm a high school football coach. He gave me the name when I said that I only look for open.Told him "I just see open" He turned that into Jesse Open.
I would much rather turn brass than just any metal

Gary re your os-f plug if you were superstitious would you file the O and S letters off? failing that use h9 or saito ss plugs ...i've looked at the crystal ball and it says some guy named andy will post a pic of his fg90 corsair, can you believe that?
Jim i like the muffler gary made. It's what we call hornbag here.

Pete, the letter went out to NZ yesterday, I assume this is going to be a long process.
Those reinforcing ribs on the mounting lug on the 1.25 are a a pain when using the PSP test stand.

Boy i hope those stamps have improved.Licking one back then sucked every drop of moisture out of your tongue and must have made your taste buds the size of octopus tentacles, just out of shock, how else would your tongue then get stuck to the roof of your mouth?...it's like your not doing that to me again
