did you hear what they said in that video, for the War Birds, "to get more speed they went to a 3 blade prop, then to a 4 blade prop",, well my point is that all I have ever read on these forums is that the 3 and 4 blade prop are less efficient than a 2 blade is,, so could it be that even tho 3 blade props are less efficient they still pull more air ??

Here is where I get the Graupners. Yesterday I received one APC 10 x 6 to run on my Saito 30 to compare to the Graupner 10 x 6.

Thanks,
That was a donated cylinder from a crash cadaver. Dave, aside from obviously being illiterate, I like to use phonetics at times and "grope-ner" is exactly how my German friends pronounce that name.
Thankfully, you seemed to have figured it out
Jim, Do you really want a .65? New or used?
I have several here to choose from. A friend dropped off his "collection" yesterday as he is going all electric.
A few used .65 and one brand new one.
Let me know.

Okay, got that. I will use upper case "G" when I phoneticize the name "Graupner".
Another step in my journey to literary melioration .
Jim, I will try to PM my direct email address. The PM system here seems to balk at times.

At least that seems to be the usual goal..
Tailoring an engine to make it better suited to perform a specific task or perhaps to remedy an observed shortcoming can be rewarding .
My Norwegian wife's maiden name is Graupner pronounced "Grope-ner" .LOL

Here is another gem from that lot. A brand new, early model FA-80. Complete with the machined aluminum muffler and the rather rare, aluminum exhaust pipe.

Gary, does it have the bump in the middle of the piston as the 15.5 to compression engine has? Like this, thanks
My older 65 has the bump and 12.7 to 1 compression.

Gary, thanks for the offer on the 65 !, but I am going to have to hold off on buying another engine right now, kind of have a deal going on for an 82 and I don't have enough planes for the engines I have
Jim
careful, you'll get a Saitos addiction

Jim get to bed man that's way to late to stay up charging a flight pack unless you are drinking a bottle of white wine called melioratus...that puts hairs on your chest!
Dave give up i think gary has bragging rights with a wife whose name used to be Graupner.Bet she was glad to get married unless she kept her maiden name, remember 'brains' out of that old puppet show 'the thunderbirds' on tv in the sixties...if brains married that model claudia schiffer would she end up being called claudia schiffer brains?

Jim,
Okay on th .65, you want an .82, we have those as well.
Pete, My wife's maiden name is actually spelled "Svendson" but I prononce that as "grope-ner". We use the small "g" because many Americans have difficulty pronouncing the upper case or capital "G".
Dave, I will have a look at the .80 tonight. May have to lift the cylinder to see.

Thanks Gary, a little careful peeping will let you see the edge of the bump as in my top picture.
Saito 65 piston bump
Unkind remark removed and apology offered to Gary.
So, is it pronounced like "grow" or "grooo". Thanks

If I understand all the facts correctly, Jim Thompson's, (former owner of Hobby-Lobby) son married Mr. Graupner's daughter, if true that would be the reason Hobby-Lobby sold Graupner Products. All Graupner products I bought over the years were excellent.

Dave,
The brand new FA80 is a high compression version.
Two of the three used FA65 are also HC.

Dave, looks like the 100 came out alright, and the Xoar 15X6 is a puller, I'm wondering if the RPM will come up a couple hundred after a while of running,
Pete, yeeaa I go to bed late, it's a bit screwy, the wife get's up early in the morning to go to work, so I don't go to bed until she has left for work, this way (specially in the winter) I can walk to the car with her, I hate for her to have to leave the house alone in the early morning !!
Gary, LOL you keep tempting me LOL, I wonder how one of those high compression 65's would run with the 80 Carb on it LOL
Jim
the Duke once shot a man in the hand for saying he didn't like Saito engines, then the Duke said "what did you want me to do, look away, don't ever say that again, not ever again",, things were cool after that, but that guy could never fly RC again

Jim, I may find out today if the 82-a is a puller, I suspect it will, it has that smooth, friction free feel.
Yes sir, the 100 should grow a couple of hundred rpm, a Turbo Header will probably do that too. I'm going to start etching the size on the TH's, as I've started doing with the Saito mufflers.
