Anyway..... Move the turbine forward an 1" (25.4mm) and you need less nose weight. THAT alone will more than make up for any perceived loss in turbine performance. BTW...she'll fly fine at 170MPH (273.5885KPH ) OR 169MPH (271.9791KPH).

Dave, I will do that for sure, one inch forwards equal to less weigh in the nose.

Got it!

I talked to Bruce this morning and as usual it is a pleasure to do so, my kit will be on the way soon, maybe here by the end of next week, it is time to do an inventory of what kind of hardware I have for it and what I need to order, building is to start on the last week of the month, will follow the ins manual on the build, so far I'm planing on two mods on the kit that are very small, nothing noticeable on the outside, covering to be done with Ultrkote, black and Yellow like my Gee Bee Y senior.

Default Progress Report - Bob Parks Intakes

I had a very long, busy, and productive weekend. The wing is almost finished (need to finish the bottom side fairing) and mated to the fuselage, and, the intakes are built. Still have to add the upper skins and inlet lips but thought that sharing pictures will help those that plan on building their kits. Notice the brace in the rear view picture. This brace determines the distance between the side walls so that once removed - the turbine will fit on the mounts. When the time will come to install the turbine, I will have to trim the 1/32" plywood that is glued to the fuselage and supports the intakes.

A word of advice. What stood out the most to me when I got my kit thirteen years ago other than the great parts fit and awesome manual was that if you pull more than a few pieces out of that box, you'll never be able to put them back and close it lol. I don't know how Bruce figured out how to pack that little box. It was packed like a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle.

Held the cable down with duck type then I used my wife's hairdryer as suggested before, see the results after going over it for about 15 minutes.

I've read most of the manual on line before the kit arrived, I will prepare the sub assemblies for the wing and fuse first.

All the hardware you need is in this bag, I've never seen such a complete kit before.

Thank you Bruce

I was in the process of gluing the rib 6 doublers then, the power went out, oh well, I will take this time to study the plans, I also numbered the ribs and separated them into a left and right groups.

This is it for today, it took me sometime to find the bottom spars, I would like to see these spars taped together in future kits so there is absolutely no confusion as to which ones are the bottom and which ones are the top.

Update: I think the bottom spars are the ones taped together.

I asked him that question, since the demand on the kit is low at the moment then there is no rush to cut another batch right away, he also has to build up the inventory on the other kits.

I know there are some kits outhere that are not going to be build, some will surface here and there for sale.

Yes they do sell the Pro-Links - for the PST Reaction. Just purchased a set to replace the Robart straight wire landing gear in my wood 54 kit. Certainly will have to modify the nose gear due to the mounting of the nose gear Pro-Link. The Robart nose gear mounted to a former, the Pro-Link mounts horizontally, thus needing spruce runners to be built in. Will finish up the nose gear possibly tomorrow. Haven't got around to the main gear. Hopefully I won't have much to modify to mount the main gear Pro-Links. I built the modified wood 54 with the anhedral stab. She flies great. Love the F-4. Chic

I have the Prolink electric PST Reaction ARF set in my kit built Reaction. I've got about 75 flights on it and am very happy with the gear. They are not a drop replacement if the plane is already built. Besides having to modify the nose gear mounting, as mentioned, you'll have to relocate the main wheel wells. The main struts are about an inch longer than the Robart wire struts. Also you should have done the mains first. That way you can adjust the height of the nose gear horizontal mount to give the plane the proper attitude.

Attached are a couple of pictures that show what I needed to do when building my kit.

Joe

What a great tip - will stop work on the nose gear mount until I get the mains installed. WOW - great tip. Will post pictures on the wing install and necessary mods to the wheel wells. Again, thanks. Chic
