LOL!
I do have plenty of Saitos that I will trade for those paperweights that some of you haven't figgered out .

Not five minutes at a time, year after year.

I have a 110 and either a 70 or an 80. I can't see the markings with it clamped to the stand. It has the pump/regulator attached to the pushrods. The prices of these engines make the Saitos cheap by comparison. I have to look, but I think all but one Saito has a home already. I have some Magnum 91's that are brand new that are destined for a B-17, and one Saito 91, I don't know if they will pair up well, so may find another 91 some day and put one on each wing and one Magnum on each wing to balance.

Both my OS engines are shelf queens, neither one run as well as a Saito. They run, just not as good. I think the 52 needs a carb overhaul, the 70 is just old and needs a complete overhaul. I have more time on a Saito 72 than the OS 52, and the Saito just keeps going and going, but may need bearings, it makes a bit of noise even though the shaft is solid and it spins smoothly. It bit the dirt once or twice. The last time when an aileron ripped off and it spun in, just missing someone. A Somethin Xtra does not fly very well when an aileron fails.

My first Sumthin Xtra around 1998.. Built from kit. Fresh YS 53 had just replaced the Saito 56 that had been on the plane. Great combo.
I like em all , otherwise there wouldn't be so many engines hanging out here!

. Haters gonna hate, can't help that .

My only "hate" is gasoline fuel... ha ha .

BTW, Just for cost comparison, The YS FZ 70 is at around $340 and a Saito FA-82 is around $350 IIRC.

Saito 130 cam wear caused by pump actuation rod. The wear is all the way around including a dip where the cam alignment hole is.

I have two Saito engines using that diaphram type crankcase venting pump . Neither one has that wear pattern. Could be the oil that fellow used, or perhaps didn't use.

Of course, the vents used with the 120 DP and 220 do not use that cam actuated pump. Just a pair of complimentary intake/exhaust check valves.

The 82 is $299.
The 100 is $339
The 180 is $449

YS80FZ is $369.95 and a 115 is $423, and the 185 is $797.

Thanks for the correction,
I wasn't able to find the current price for a FZ 80 and I was going by memory on the Saito .82. Still, $70 isn't a huge difference.

I was mainly comparing the FZ 70 or FZ 80 you were talking about.

Anyhow, I would trade one new and one lightly used Saito FA-.82 for a YS .FZ-.80 in decent condition. Even though I prefer the $340 , FZ- 70 over the $370, FZ- 80.

As an aside regarding pricing: The last FA 115 I sold I asked IIRC $100 and I just shipped a near new Saito FA-80 , in the box for $85, shipping included.

PS, I heard that you're receiving a Saito 120-s DP today. Let us know if this is true.
boy if i am that would be awesome.
Once agian i will probably need help with the hook up.
With all this chatter about one carbs lines and pumps i’m starting to get confused.

guys, I think one of the reasons "why" the Saito Carbs are so successful over other brands is for one simple reason, and that is, because the Saito's "Needle" is sealed with the O-ring, if you look at other engines it's not the "Needle" it's self that is sealed..

Pete, where you been !! have you not seen my regulators I posted ? ant they slick..
I still have not ordered the taps and drills I need, I got to get going on that..

Thanks Jim,

I will see your $20 and up the bid by 1 brand new FT 100 Saito twin. Pay the shipping both ways.
The paperweight from me to you goes out on Saturday.

Didn't realize just how deep hate plays in this support group.

I didn’t know if you noticed or not ? But this is a Saito support group. So love for Saito’s is what we’re all about and hatred for those secular engine’s should be expected

Really? No , I hadn't noticed lol!

Well I have enjoyed several brands .Had excellent results from engines by many makers.

Not a religion for me, these are just toys,
its all about fun, hate only subtracts from the fun.

Enjoy

no. The fat head is just short of new. Not a parts engine.
Besides it looks good with my collection

I have no opinion on the YS business but those SSE's are beautiful. I hope my kit comes out looking half as good as yours.
