hey guys, about my Carb dram LOL. even just a little pressure from the screw and the barrel get's harder to turn, and I also tested it by removing the manifold and the same results.. then I mounted the 100"s Carb to the 82's plastic back plate, and the same thing but not as bad.
so, with the 100's metal back plate I can not tight the Carb enough to hold it secure so I guess I have to send the Carb back, if I can find the receipt

OK, I will do that, give me a few days, BTW I found the receipt.
I tried the 82 Carb on my 100 and it tightened down good, no problem, there must be some sort of distortion going on in the 100 Carb

See the throttle cable slot in the grey firewall ?
your wrong.The stiff short throttle cable stops the throttle barrel from moving sideways much just sounds like a glitchy throttle servo.

Ok, instead of making the generalized statement , "You'll have no throttle control at all" I should have said It's hard to believe that only the idle would be affected. Seems to me that fuel metering would be all over the place throughout the rpm range with that little barrel guide screw missing.

Not me at all, and you are correct,
Good chance the mixture will go off and with any luck,quit. Better to put a shim under the screw if you get desperate enough to make an adjustment there.alternately, perhaps stone the end a bit. Both methods allow for proper tightening.

That it is.
A new end cap for big block Saito mufflers.
Will be trying it out, hopefully later this week. 12 mm outlet rather than the 10 and 8 4mm holes instead of 6 x 3mm.
Hopefully enough muffler pressure but a quick water test says that could' be a problem.
If so, plugging a couple of holes will tell the tale.

An aluminum extension tube with a welded on tab. The tab screws under a couple of screws under the plane . The inlet is O-ring sealed like on a Saito carb but uses a pair of silicone rings 8 mm apart..

Nice system.
Weren't too many store-bought options that I could tuck neatly inside the cowl here. The price on this setup was about $2 for a pair of O rings
Sure beats pushing near $100!
I have made similar tails for Saito big locks along with the O-ring sealed extensions and the sound is excellent. The extensions allow for slipping on after the cowl is mounted.

jim here's a pic of a crash damaged fa82 carb,note the self tapper screws to suit a plastic back plate,no way you could bend a carby over tightening them.Excuse the cat hair on the old carby

They are in the female side, the extension. The muffler outlet being the spigot, the female being the hub.
Like the inlet pipe fitting into the Saito carb outlet .

more on the Carb drama,
so I did a bit more messing, and I found that all I have to do is tighten down the mounting screw on the throttle arm side and the barrel locks up, this is while the other screw is un-screwed, and if I only tighten the other screw it wont lock up,, crazy
there must be something wrong with the Cab's Body, maybe an air bubble in the aluminum.
Lonnie, I will send the Carb out tomorrow

OK Gary, I will send it to you, just get me another one or fix it for me, I can not tighten it down enough to be sure it wont fall off, just snugging it down a little puts pressure on the barrel,,
if you order a new one Horizon should send it straight to me

Pete, this may be an acceptable side note, the leader for this years Ride to the Wall was an Australian Vietnam War Veteran, my brothers American Legion group welcomes the riders every year during their fuel stop in Columbia, Mo. They presented him with an Australian flag made by my sister in law. She mostly makes quilts for fallen and still living Veterans. She made one not too long a go for the last living Wind Talker. My brother is on our right almost behind the flag.
Gary, a bit of motorcycle brotherly advice.Quit polishing and machining all those beautiful saito parts and chill out man
some of us LIKE spending money, go and buy some ready made shiny bling for the big block...then you get more spare time to drink beer.

Not only that but I am rescuing a 1984 Honda 80 XR and a 198? IH Cub Cadet. I think I already have a rod for the 56 and maybe a newer crank case.

Takes time to make the money in order to spend it. All part of the hobby. Learning and doing are very rewarding. (Sometimes a few hundred RPM to boot) That tail piece was about 40 minutes from start to finish. I would have to work more than an hour to pay for a store bought that wouldn't work as well. Not to mention getting it same night! Sure wish you lived next-door. We could trade parts for PAINT!
Started making a real cool cannister muffler after dinner last night. Pics later

My brother also is an active Patriot Guard Rider and and plays Taps at military funerals. My sister in law is beautiful in all ways and super talented.
