Welcome to Club SAITO !
Where was the "jab" at Saito you speak of???
Maybe because we also use and enjoy using other engines as well.
Got my first YS and first Saito within a few months of each other nearly forty years ago .Owned and used them both extensively since then. Unlike some folks I have had excellent experiences with both. Seems most people here actually hate the one brand!
Certainly harbor no irrational hatred of any of the four strokes I have owned.
No bitter disappointments to speak of.
So, because of that, even with all the Saitos I own, use, work on for others, modify and make parts for, I should avoid this site?
Sorry to say, but you may have a point there

Yes, this is Club Saito but as an owner of saitos, os and magnum 4 strokes I feel there's nothing wrong with mentioning the others here for comparison purposes. How do you know how good your saitos are if not compared to the competition? By what metric will you measure them if not through comparison? There is a target audience for each manufacturer of 4 strokes eg Magnums for the financially challanged, YS for the performance enthusiasts and OS/Saito for the rest. What works for one doesn't necessarily meet the needs of everyone.
Was this thread initiated as a Saito worship group or more to talk about the ins and outs of Saitos, their strengths and weaknesses, possible upgrades and how they fair against other manufacturers? I hope the latter.

Glowy, this may be of interest to you as you're into comparo's, David McIntire just bought 4 gallons of S&W fuel in various blends to try, even some 5%.
The gaskets for the 56 came yesterday and the wrist pin is coming today, all I'll be lacking will be the wrist pins pads, none available.

I commented on David's S&W vid yesterday. I get an almost identical oil package % by mixing Omega and Cool Power at 50/50. Just picked up 8 gl. for 22.95 ea. day before yesterday at the lhs but the next time I need fuel I'll be ordering from S-Whobby. Apparently there's no upcharge for custom mixes.

David, SAI6508 piston pin retainers are in stock at Horizon and Tower.
The same retainer is used for FA-56B, FA-56BGK, FA-82B, FA-82BGK, FA-91S, FA-91SGK, FA-100, FA-100GK, FA-182TD, FA-200Ti, FA-170R3, FA-325R5D, FG-14C and FG-17 Four-Stroke Engines according to one source.
Does FA56a use a different retainer?

Gary I love what you do with the machining you are quite the expert. And there is no problem with comparing one engine with another I my self have a few other engine’s because I love how there made and have a unique sound but when I am on a Saito specific site I’m reluctant to bring up other models of engines.
as far as the .56 goes mine all turn a11-7 10500 and pull my Duel Ace around like a rocket. I love them so much I have 5 or 6 forgot how many.
But Daves will probably turn better he knows how to tune an engine

You can make a very precise button punch with a pair of steel plates. Two dowel pins to align them and a bolt to serve for clamping. Put an on-size hole thru both plates, then slightly enlarge the top hole for a slip fit to the punch. Relieve the bottom hole from the bottom a bit shy of the cutting deck so the button will drop freely after punching. The punch made from drill rod and hardened. Grind the tip for a good cutting edge after hardening.
You can then make a lifetime supply in less time than it takes to order a pair

Yeah, that's the Cadillac fixture. I was thinking more along the lines of installing a ground drill bit upside down in a drill press and punching the teflon through a sized hole in a secured metal plate.

I ordered two sets, it's iffy going by this, the II is not listed.
OK, When you click on the 1st 56 on the list the ones I ordered come up and it shows a 56-a although I don't think they ever called it that. We'll call it that anyway.

This might be a good buy, not the right time for me though. No ratings.

You can also use a piece of hollowed out, sharpened bar, like a leather hole punch.
Now that acdii posted the pic I have been trying to post all day from left to right Saito 100,72,82.
And the 82 runs awesome. Well all three run great but the 82 just was plan amazing.
