My wife encourages my hobby(now to get her OK on a Laser cutter, but it IS my money) We are going to the SIG Flyin Saturday, was going to skip it this year, but decided to just drive there early Saturday morning instead and come home that night since it is only about a 5 hour trip. We did the same thing the very first time I went, this time taking mutt and butt with.

Funny you should say that. I warned her about hauling gas in the tahoe, nope she wouldn't listen. She swerved to miss a deer day before yesterday and spilled at least a quart out of one of the jugs when the cap popped off. Gave the rear carpet a good soaking of ethanolated gas. What a stink!

The way I figure it I could spill up to a quart of fuel to be even. On the other hand she's a woman so it's my fault she spilled the gas to begin with.

Yeah but 2 cycle fuel is worse, that oil gets rank after it sits and bakes! And if it is 20% caster glow fuel, look out!!!

Thanks for the offer but baby needs new shoes, so to speak. I've been selling off some engines lately to finance my habit of buying preowned planes. Mostly selling old 2 strokes and OS 4 strokes. I just cleaned up and re-bearinged a lovely super low run time FS -26. Amazing little thumper. When compared to a Saito OS 4 strokes are a beatch to rebuild.

Quick question if I can fit it under the cowl do you guess think a Saito .80 would be too much engine for a 9 to 10 lb. civilian scale job? I fly in more of a scale like fashion, I don't fly 3D or fly patterns. I haven't got the coordination or reaction times for that.

Mike, go to YouTube, search Saito FA80 and watch many videos, you will get an idea just how powerful that engine is, my thoughts are for scale, if the 80 will turn a 13X6 or 7 or 8 it should turn a 14X4 and that should do it for scale

well with sanding for 20 seconds and fitting and sanding and fitting and sanding and fitting for 3 hours I fit the Mustang's wing to the fuselage.
I said to myself "what a piece of junk, screw the Incident meter, if it fly's it fly's, if it doesn't just as well because I will stomp it into it's next life and send the video of me doing it to Air Borne Models as well as to World Models",

LOL you see I found a another problem, one screw hole in the wing for mounting the wing was drilled in the wrong spot, LOL when will it stop ?????? LOL

hey, did I tell you guys, to never buy a Wold Models plane, if I didn't>> don't

Gary, have you ever made a 12mm 15° adaptor that simulates the angle of a factory saito muffler inlet? Looks like that's the only way I can mount your custom muffler on my fa82 Sbach without cutting up the cowl a bunch more because putting an angle adaptor on the engine would change the header pipe location drastically. So I would leave the header as is, screw on the 15° male/female adaptor and lock nut and then screw on your muffler with lock nut. No change to the cowl would be required and as a bonus I would be able to remove the muffler before removing the cowl; less cowl flexing that way. Another bonus would be the ability to point the muffler more downward which would eliminate the need for that pesky unsightly Dubro exhaust deflector.

I have a SIG 1/5 scale Cub with a second hand .80 on it with a 14X4 prop to be scale. I need to pull the engine and get the needles set correctly. I recently bought another .80 from a forum member so I may just swap it. It was a bear getting it in without lengthening the nose (Box firewall).

Default 12mm 15° Saito exhaust adaptor

I'll leave it to you to determine proper internal/external thread lengths, wall thickness, material type etc. Thanks

Thanks. Yeah, you can't tell what year it was made unless you bought it close to the release date. Was wondering if it was early production or a later one. Manufacturers many times fix problems with early releases as time goes on. My WM 46 size P51 was an early release so I had to strip the film back and reinforce the gear blocks. Later releases were better built and actually came with retracts.

LOL this is nuts, LOL I found the threads on the tail's push/pull rods are tapered, the cleaves are loose, some of them can be simply pushed half way down the threads, the rods can't be trusted to hold the cleaves so I have to buy new rods, go figure

along with the hole drilled in the wrong spot, this^ gives me good reason to Email Air Borne Models and tell them what I think,,, again

Arf's usually become a kit eventually. Crash them enough times and they become un-arfs and unique.

man, this must not be my year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe what is going on in this hobby! I just called Byrons/Wildcat, they wont sell me what I want, they wont sell me 1 case with 2 different fuels in it, I want 2 gallons of 10% for braking-in, and 2 gallons of 20% for flying, if I want 2 different fuels I have to buy 2 cases, I don't need or want 4 gallons of 10%,, I ended the call

I tell you, if I knew last Spring all the troubles I was going to have to get these planes in the air I would have stopped flying and never spent another penny on the hobby!!!!

Try S&W fuel, they'll send you whatever you want in one case.

Sorry to hear about your modelling woes. I get depressed sometimes with all the work it takes to get a plane flight worthy. It all goes away after the first flight so cheer up dangit!

So how much is wildcat fuel nowadays ?
Our LHS will no longer order wildcat but they do handle Morgan's Cruel Power and all the VP fuels.

Jim, I fly 10% only all the time, you will never miss not having 20%, I have used a few gallons of 5% also, engines run really nice on it. Guys in other countries fly 0% and have as much fun as we do.

I have only ever used 15%. I don't see the need for anything higher in a 4 stroke. 2 stroke OTOH need all the help they can get.
