RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
When I bought my car 2yrs ago from an LHS, the ball diffs were in the box, but normally you have to buy them unless you get the TT01R which has some hop ups already but I dont think that one has a body. I need to get some foam tires for my car because the rubber keeps ripping off the rims[:@] yes I glue them on but they still come off[:@]very violently too[:-].

Hi all, do any of you use hard cased lipo cell's ? If so how do strap them in ? Im wondering if there is a decided 'best way' or to just use fibre tape or maybe sew some velcro into an old rucksack strap or something....
Any suggestions welcome. if you do something a little different some pics would be really helpfull.
Thanks all !

Hey m8 i havent used lipos yet but that strap ideal sounds best and maybe use one of those lipo sack thing to protect the chassis just incase ( a flaming fireball hurtling along at 50mph plus lol) < thats the reason i havent switched yet ever since my mates burst on his car charger and set fire to the front passenger seat lmao[:@]
as for the earlier post about thermal shutdown on ESC it stops the heat from damging electric parts sort of a fail safe for electrics etc
If you get alot of thermos it either means the esc cant handle the motor your using, temps of the weather, best to start using a fan above the esc if you do get alot of thermal shutdowns

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Metal bearings come into play as it rolls 100% better.
The plastic bushings u get with the standard kit wear down and slow the car down alot,i did my bearings first then when i upgraded the motor i upgraded the propshaft as the standard motor will work fine with the plastic prop, but the standard prop will bend alot on a modded motor []
Its not much of a problem really just save up for the bearings as i would rate them as a defo upgrade for the TT

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hi m8 welcome to the thread
Well alot of people use there TTs for rally etc so you should have no problems really, just be careful of any small rocks etc getting into the motor holes they will damage the comms inside while spinning, some people tape up the hole underneath the motor on there TTs which seems to work but you also need to let the motor breath while running.
If you do get dirt or dust inside the motor spuirt a lil motor oil thro the motor hole to wash the comms out as the dirt will harden and end up damaging them.
But like i said many have used them for rally purposes so you shouldnt worry and if your using the stock motor they really cheap to replace anyway
Alot of guys on here higher up there travel on shocks too for offroading so you get a bit more ground clearance.
Hope that helps ya [8D]

Thanks so much! Ill keep that in mind.. Do you guys use under body lexans to keep dirt away from the inside part of the car? Or you just use it as it is just with higer suspension..
Heres my rally TT01:
Well since I used it for drifting before it pretty much have all the important upgrades for drifting
Aluminum hop ups, Rear diff lockers, front ball diff set, upper carbon, heat sink, ball bearings, univ drive shafts, 23T Yokomo motor and a lot more..
all that I had to do was increase the ride height and install rally block tires..

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
hi all i have a tt-01. i'm looking for a second shaft-driven car.
should i get the tb-02? or the tt-01r? or the tt-01E? or even the tt-01ER?
btw, i was just thinking, a stock tb-02 out of the box, is just about as well equipped as a mid-way hopped up tt-01. so why the rage about tt-01?
i got my tt-01 cos everyone was saying how good it was. why not encourage first-time buyers to get the tb-02?
just pondering...

They add a bit more ride height (check his pics for tread size) and they grip alot better on loose dirt than the TC tyres do,but they wear down quick on hard surfaces

TCV your 20mm ride height there is about as far as you can get with a TT-01. In fact, i would guess at that height you are already getting a cogging effect/noise. The diff's and drive shafts are just not designed to go much beyond 18mm without a much higher stress on the parts.
If you remove your bumpers and take the motor out and try moving the car at different heights, at some point ~(around 18-19mm i'd guess) you will find more resistance than is good for your parts. That's how i judged where to grind my bumpers down to.
This is assuming standard diff's. Ball's and one ways might be different.
I rally my TT-01 a lot but i have only ever stuck with the standard diffs and just stiffened them with grease to gain traction. I would be interested to know if different diffs would allow extra ride height
Edit to add, Don't take that shell rallying ! It's a great shell, the pipes and everything look fantastic. My rally shell is more just a cover for roll protection so think about getting a cheap shell before you go rolling around in the dirt !

I don't get the cogging noise with my 20mm height, and in fact it looks like I can still add more.. I changed my stock drive shafts with
the Tamiya universal shaft assembly.. Its a lot thinner the stock ones..
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53792
and if you plan on using those too, don't forget to get this also coz the stock cup joints are too big:

Do you guys use under body lexans to cover the inside of the car from dirt an derbris? or you just use them as it is?
Just want to know coz I tried running my car in the sand and loose dirt and my chassis was full of it!!! tons!!!

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Speed Controller and batteries, I just bought a tt01D spec and I was wondering what the largest battery in mah I can run in the car. In my other brushless car run I run the 5000mah nimh battery and would also like to run that in this car. Also the previous owner thought the speed controller was bad and took it apart and lost the case/housing for it and I was wondering if anyone have a TEU-101BK that the might want to get rid of.
One last question what brushless setup works in this car and am looking for suggestions as to what work best.
Thanks
Bob
