A PS: to my note above. A friend came over last night for Christmas dinner and brought his MCX and we had dog fights (near miss's mostof the time) and flew 14 packs! I had a set up so we could charge 5 batteries at a time. Others sat in the livingroom and could not believe that the little MCX flies the way it does and that you can crash over and over without damage.

Evan,

As you will learn later in life, those that rag you for what can you do.............. are acutally jealous but can't face it or say it! But remember this is Christmas and a time be understanding and loving. Don't let something like that get under your skin..............in life that is no biggie.............you know your a great pilot and that is all that counts!

Merry Chritmas kiddo

I got a new charger with a power supply yahhhh lol I got the turnigy accucell-6 it looks like a pretty sweet charger, charges lipos, nimh, nicad and such packs.

Could someone explain what acouple of things are as far as functions on a such charger?

1. What is discharging a pack? and why or what is it used for?

2. What is auto cycling a pack mean or cycling a pack< and why or what is it used for?

thank you in advance
what did everyone else get for christmas?

Hey Heli,

Congrats on the new charger, it sounds like a very cool one!

Discharging and cycling are mostly used for Nicad batteries, to maintain them, and to prevent them from developing a "short memory cycle" so to speak....by completely discharging them, and then fully charging them (cycling), they supposedly will hold a charge longer and better.

This really does not apply to Lipo's at all...since they have no memory characteristics....

http://www.favonius.com/soaring/combatt/combatt.htm

Some schools of thought say that Lipos should be stored in a half charged state...so the discharge might come in handy for that use...otherwise, you probably won't be using the cycling or discharge modes much with the new charger...

Hope you had a great Christmas...

I have some cousins that came over the past few days, so that is why I haven't been on for awhile. And I will probably be off all day tomorrow also.

JPEE,

Thanks for the pictures and the cut away of the engine. Yeah I didn't use shoe goo either on my 600 or Belt CP were bearings sit in a plastic holder. My little nieces were climbling all over my dad too. It sounds like you had a lot of fun with the MCX's.

Glenn,

Cool cat. My store was packed on Wednesday full of last minute shoppers and they pulled me off the truck to help on the sales floor because it was too busy. Cool to hear we passed the struggling thread. I haven't even checked until I read it.

Jeff,

You crack me up with those animations and pictures. Keep them coming.

Helistyle,

Cool to hear about your new charger and power supply.

I got some heli money, so I will have fun spending that some time later.

Sounds like everyone is having a good Christmas and got some heli stuff under the tree.

Merry Christmas.

Nick,

Good to hear from you, I was hoping all was OK, but figured that you were busy with Holiday related stuff...glad you got to see your cousins for some family time...

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas, and some heli money never hurts!

Hope you have fun tomorrow again...and we'll be here when ya get back, I think everyone has been a bit busy lately...

Take care, and Merry Christmas.

My B400 is almost rebuild, sat down tonight to finish the head, and discovered a broken see saw holder, so it's off to the LHS tomorrow night...[]

hey guys i got some money but have to spend most on my lizard lol and the rest im gonna save or atleast try to lol

and i also got to aluminum parts and the eflite tools for my blade 400 and flew for my whole family and was doing figure 8's well they were okay lol so that makes 35 flights exactly ive been keeping track

i had to replace a fethering shaft for the first time today just because when ever i land i hit the throttle hold and then add some pitch to slow the blades down a little faster and today i hit a little to soon and it didnt even hop off the ground it just tipped over because it was on a little patch of grass higher than the rest of the grass. but it was barely bent but enough to make a vibration so i went ahead and fixed it and now it is perfect!!!!!

merry christmas everyone i am leaving to go to florida for a week so no heli flying but i will find a way to get on here and check up on everybody

thanks for the quick response glenn, I kinda knew what both terms where in the field of charging but I wanted to get some more info from someone more experienced then me. The new charger is nice, nicer then any charger I have used before, and now I can charge all my nicad and nimh packs without having to plug them into a standard wall charger lol How was everyone else's christmas?

Glenn,

I ment to say I wouldn't be on at all on Saturday because for some reason I kept thinking Christmas was on Friday. I need to look at the calender more.

Good to hear you are almost done with the B400 and good catch on the see saw holder. Hope the LHS has it in stock.

I am thinking about going flybarless with the 600 since I am hearing claims of a minute to a minute and a 1/2 more of flight time. But I am a little unsure on the setup of that and I understand the mechanical flybar. And the only flybarless head that I like uses plastic grips. Or I could go the safe route and get another battery.

Evan,

Sorry to hear about the spindle, but it sounds like you are having fun flying in front of your family.

Jeff,

LOL.

Helistyle,

Cool to hear that you like the charger a lot.
