Welcome to Club SAITO !
Pete,
Ever seem videos of the good old boys "noodling" for catfish? The get in the water and find the huge cats lurking. They then shove their fist and arm down the fish's throat and pull them out of the water.

Boy and those guys get paid to build cool stuff and are such idiots at the same time.
Local engine guy here has built a couple similar to that and they both were kicking out 900hp. The guy who had the engine built was at the first dyno. run. Engine guy did the first pull. And the owner of the engine disappeared. There like dude were did you go? He was on the phone with his buddy talking about needing a bigger badder transmission. He had no idea what the engine was capable of. Let’s just say local engine guy can build bad ass engine’s. That’s all he does he has been doing this for a long time and he has figured out stuff. A lot like Gary.

Dave you are looking fit and happy, good to see. From a comment you made years ago i seem to remember that you liked fishing for bass. Only american bass fishers i've seen were two crazy assed dudes drag racing each other upriver to their favourite spot.
ps jim i never knew that cleetus was a real name so i looked it up. Comes from a greek word that means 'to come forth' ...takes me way back to watching that movie with jon voight in it.

Thanks Pete, I passed a nuclear stress test yesterday, it kinda leaves you ragged out.

What is interesting is the Ecoboost in my truck can put out over 550 HP at the wheels with just a tune. https://5startuning.com/got-2017-f15...ost/#iLightbox[image_carousel_1]/1 Check the first and second graphs. Maybe I can get 5* to tune a Saito.

Amazing that just anybody can go out and buy stuff like that today. All that work and research has paid off well for the consumer
Even more amazing is what is going on in the shops right now!
But who cares?

3.5 EB. Tows like a Diesel in a big rig, and that is just stock. It is an amazing powerplant for its displacement. Want to slap a turbo on one of the FG-30 and swing a nice scale 3 blade on it.

Pete, it's a 3 hour combination of both, I breezed this one since I keep in shape. I had four beautiful women to rescue me if I flunked.
No Saito play today, I have a trailer load of wood to cut in to 24" lengths and split.
I was wondering which test you took too.
Sounds like the very same test I get annually. Usually fully recover by the time I get home. They especially want to keep an eye on the abdominal arteries since I have only one kidney. They tend to get larger to handle the added blood flow through the remaining kidney. Easy to develop an aneurysm. So far, after 40 years, all is good.
Can't you play with your Saitos after lunch? The wood thing should be done by then Surely it wont take all day!

I can easily see yours being annually, so far mine are biannually, my Missus will make me quit about 1:00 pm even if I'm not done. Since a heart attack,in March 2007, she's over protective, as for me, I just go for it. It's nice and cool today, I like to take advantage of that.
Actually Dave, I skipped taking it this year, will resume next year. I think the Dr is overdoing it just to collect the fees.
Yessir, sounds like a good day to cut wood for sure, enjoy the lovely weather. This is a good time of year to take on chores like that.

I lost my favorite cardiologist, she move north to Springfield, the new guy started over.
Three years ago I bought a Husqvarna 460 with a 50 cc engine and 20" bar, it will bury your shoes in a hurry.
I have about 1/3rd of a Saito 50 GK, I need to decide if making it while is worth the expense. The short crank is 32 bucks and the long crank is $51.00, the cylinder, crankcase and cam are all good.

Must be nice to cut firewood this time of year. Any attempt right now would result in being covered balls to armpits with seed ticks; just how it is here. All my firewood cutting is done in late fall or winter. Each cutting session is for the upcoming year; just how it is here in the south.
Gary, I may be contacting you for FA45 parts, I'm working on one now.

Jim lucky there were no saito's involved though watching the big scale aircraft being that badly flown is a shame for the model, and the wallet.
ps i once had a duck shooting mate who told me his new dog was so hopeless he wanted to dive bomb it with his big scale ww2 stuka, luckily it had a two stroke in it.
Sure hope Dave survived the big woodcut of 2019!
Things got quiet here!
Anyhow, had a pile of spare parts last night materialized into a FA-120 "Fathead". Looks like enough parts left over to make another one.
I really like the carb, the heavier crank and mild cam timing of tha Fathead version. They idle very well, run smooth and transition without fuss. Swing big props too!
This one is headed for the Pica 1/5 WACO.

I did get a chance to run it today, about 8 ounces worth. The compression started with nil compression but those few ounces brought it right up to snuff.
Got plenty of 45 parts sitting here. Want me to send them your way?

You know, the heavy castor use by the previous owner really preserved the parts. It was real pita to clean up but everything internal looks really good. The only thing I need is a gasket set and a drive washer. Why people use pliers on drive washers is beside me, I just don't get that whole program.

Looks like a good 120, it's amazing what 5 minutes run time will do for an engine. I am doing the wood thing again today only more of it. The report on my heart came by way of a phone call, all is well.
I could sure use an intake pipe for the 50 and the spacer that goes in front of the cam drive gear. Nobody has em.

Good on the check up, more wood is good too!
Isn't the spacer the same on the early 45? I will see what I have on hand and let you know later.
Do you have a damaged pipe or none at all ?
