yes you can put a 302 in a Pinto, we had a few of them around here in the early 80s. their really not that hard to blow-off if they have stock engines in them (as most guys had in theirs around here), they would get my Nova off the line but I would catch them in 2nd or 3rd, there was one I raced and I caught him just as I hit 2nd. we even had one up here with a Chevy 350 in it, but that was after I had got out of street racing. we also had a Vega with a stock 350 in it, it's the same story. the guy said it would do wheelies, but he gave the race up when I passed him late in 2nd gear. you got to have a cam to get your engine to rev out with power at the end of the 1/4.
my friend had a 69 442 with 4:11s and a stock 455, it too would pull really hard off the line but it did not have the top end to pull hard coming to the end of the 1/4
oh, I did see one Vega just over the NY line, it had a blower sticking out of the hood

Not to be to critical
but that’s the 182 twin and it does run good it definitely is not broke in yet. If it was there wouldn’t be any covering left.
Once again tell me how great ARF’s are.

ARF are something my dog chews on to get the racoon fur out of her teeth. Now that I think of it, the only planes the broke apart in the air on me were ARF, none of my built planes ever had an issue in the air. In fact the Saito 72 I am now having issues with was on an ARF when it went in.
The yak I just got rid of was doing the same thing
I have a GeeBee that’s good so far but dang just get a engine in this plane that I want and now the covering comes off.
How important is covering on the fuse. Maybe I will just fly it lake that.

Never a truer word said. Jester the reason i suggested tuning with no fuel pressure was because i thought you may have a high fuel tank.
Have you really wound the lsn right out flush with the throttle arm and leaned the hsn to peak rpm at full throttle? once you have done that back the throttle off till it will just keep running (around 3 to 4000rpm) then start screwing low speed needle in quite quickly for a few turns as nothing happens till you get to a certain spot, then the revs rise quickly and the engine smooths out and even then you still keep going as you pull more throttle off, the engine smooths out more and the rpm near idle rises rapidly when you get close. What peak rpm have you had, and what prop, did you say you fitted a mas classic?

I did use the process of walking down to the idle speed. 4k is about where I could hear it missing due to being so rich, so I started screwing in the LSN. I followed that process down to around 3k as I lowered the throttle and re-adjusted. I repeaked the HSN, and went back to the idle. If I lean the LSN enough to run right, it is in quite a bit from being flush and it isn't possible to richen the HSN enough.
Yes, MAS 3 blade. It peaks at 9k now, which is another oddity in the saga of this engine. I got a peak once of 9400, 8700 on another day, and 8400 once. But this last time was 9k on the nose, and it was definitely peaked.

Saitos come from the factory with the lsn set flush with the outside of a metal throttle arm but flush with the inside of a plastic throttle arm. Those settings are way too rich for a well broke in engine. Just something to keep in mind.
sure is hard to get enough planes for the engine’s I have.
Hell I could spend a day just running just to hear the noise. Oh well that happens
i hope you get your box and find all that you need for that 50.
Ok
Ran pinky. Boy ever time I run a 56 makes me want to build more 40 size planes. My tack is broken so no numbers sorry. It turns a 11-7 wide wood. Like all the other’s so I am confident in its performance
also ran a 65 it’s a another one that is misunderstood
you know bigger badder better. But the 65’s that I have run have all been vary good.

I have to say I too want to see this pink plane with it's pink engine LOL,, but just make sure> if you put a name on it, make it in purple!
BTW, what are you going to name this pink plane with it's pink engine, I hope you don't name it Pinky,, how about naming it "Fluffy" ??
