RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
[sm=confused_smile.gif] Hi all.
I'm a new member and haven't done much with racing or anything. A friend of mine hosts a car club here in the UK ( I have noticed most here are American) called Cheshire Cat Car Club. I went to my first race today with a newly brought and asembled TT01, I brought the kit on the back of many people saying it was a fabulous car to begin with as it is very durable, very easy to learn and make mistakes with and parts are plenty.
The race today was indoors but we do outdoors too. The one thing I noticed straight away comparing to the other cars was my grip, I was more like a drifter than a touring car lol. I was sliding in and out of corners all over the place. However I didn't do to bad and came 3rd in all of my heats and 3rd in my final too, with my total un,odified TT01 vs some very cool and anodised looking TC3's and the like. I am confident that with a bit of practice I can work my way up a class. However back to my wheels. I found I was sliding all over and after talking with a few members I found they were on foams, All I had were the stock ones (Slicks I beleive) that came with the kit.
So when I came home I logged onto Ebay and went looking for some foams and found plenty however I am confussed. :S I don't know what "shore" is, I see many different variations of the numbers from 32 up to 35 and stuff and have no idea what I should be looking for, its not something I thought of asking about. :S
Could any of you guys give me a 30 second lesson on "shore" and how it affects my car, racing and the like. I would be most appreciated. I did do a search and it brought me straight here and I didn't fancy trolling through 167 odd pages to find shore. Sorry if that seems a tad lazy, maybe there should be a section about technical terms around the site somewhere.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers (even though Im sure to say it again once I read it :P )
Thanks
- Bunny

I think that the lower number shore, the more grip it has and less durable they are. I've got some 40 shore and they hold up very well, even on gravel!!

ya i got a suggestion get a mamba max brushless or vxl and stick that in there. i put the vxl in mine with a 11.1 3s lipo and it gota be close to doin 60 mph. i had to put a notch in the chassis for the motor shaft to fit or you could cut the shaft.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hey all, it's been a while since i've been here and i came back with a question. Yesterday i bought a new motor and a pinion gear. Now that i got it all set up and clean as it can get it, it runs like there are some gears grinding slightly. This does worries me but i cannot seem to know if it is form the differentials or the spur and pinion.
The motor is a 15T venom fireball
Pinion is 24
Spur is 58

I would pull your motor out and power it to spin if it spins up like it should then its your drive train and I would definitely check your diffs and also your bearings maybe one of them is binding. Welcome back to the forums long time no see.

Welcome back m8
Shouldnt be your gearing i run the same too with no problems,id reset the pinion with apiece of paper between the spur and pinion to get a sweet mesh first.
If that doesnt solve your problems strip the diffs down and grease them up and look for any thing that shouldnt be there.
Also are you running the ali prop shaft cos on a 15 turn you will need it i notice when dropping lower than 17turn motors the TT likes to make a lot of new noises lol
My 13x4 were causing the dogbones to vibrate a hell of alot today LOL Makes a great noise while building up speed i think i may gear back up to 25/55 again as moving from 15t to 13t does really add much speed now so im gunning on gearing, the 10t motor flies tho [8D]

LOL Is that a basic stamp board you have sitting on your TT01 with the optic sensor maneuvering it? Nice I had that class for the bot that goes with that in my robotics class last semester.

I worked with the boe-bot and basic stamp for my electronic classes. I am in California and my electronics class got to get a tour and meet the owner and inventer of Parallax it was cool how they do a lot of there manufacturing in house. Thats an awesome display of ingenuity man.

tt-01s werent really built for BL bear in mind, there good handling down to 15 turns then without major upgrades on susp and chassis anything under 15turns they tend to turn very poor but to say people havent have fun with BL in tts you just need to lower the power a bit its great for speed runs and drfiting tho

My experience...
I've had a Novak 5800 brushless system in my tt-01 for over a year with no problems. Once I put in the Mamba Max 7700 with an 8 cell battery I was melting or stripping differential gears and spur gears every time I drove it. It was still fun though

Exactly m8 too much power and even the bullet proof diffs suffer and the spurs just melt away []
mild BL or turn down the power a bit on high BLs and there a lot of fun im happy around a 12turn for mine now

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
If its producing alot of heat m8 there very good to use just make sure it sucking the heat away from the electrics etc
also cutting apart of the front grill and replacing with small grill materail works good too
My quake esc heatsink is pretty huge and does a good job with lower turn motors.
Im starting to get heat from the battery connectors now as im still using tams connectors i should grab some deans but my soldering is bad lol and i have 2 chargers and 8 packs to do []
But ive ordered some 7 and 8 cells packs so im gonna need too soon.Cant wait to try that 9.6v 8 cell out on the TT
