Welcome to Club SAITO !
Well I finally got around to soldering the plugs on to my starter and Lipo. The 6500 Mah pack fits snugly in the Nicad case too. Plenty of power to turn over the FG-30 now with ease.
Thanks Gary, I'm looking forward to seeing what the Modded HC 82/Custom Muffler will do in my Sbach 342. I have big expectations.
When I take out the stock 82 I'll figure out why it's rich in mid range and inconsistant with hs needling. It's never really run like I expected. It's the first new Saito I've ever bought and the most unpredictable.

Jim, i think your drinking the same brew i was on last year just had a few brews myself watching the american roger penske team win our bathurst king of the mountain 1000km v8 supercar race with a mustang.
Dave it doesn't matter which cylinder you do first, and the factory settings are very close to optimum. Once you peak the first cyl i go back 10 clicks and then peak the second cyl and back 10 clicks, then repeat each side again as max rpm increases slightly and back off 5 clicks each side, your carbs should be in sync now and you can sneak up on it from there.

Pete, so that's why my head didn't feel well this morning

Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight?
Old Lonnie was popular about the same time as Frank Ifield. Pete's folks probably have a few of Franks recordings laying about .

Lonnie, I will see what I can do.

Dave good fun to you tuning that fa182 it's very rewarding and they are very snappy even with a heavy ma classic.
pssst jim, in a past life they had very cheap beer in the airforce and i spent a lot of time in aircraft hangers. Most service aircraft have spare oxy bottles and mask sets for hangovers, sorry, i meant sudden loss of cabin pressure you know? just sayin

Thanks for your service Pete, my son did 20 years in the USAF, 10 as a Jet Engine Mechanic and 10 as the Supervisor of the Jet Engine Shop in Mountain Home, Idaho.
Thanks Pete, I'll do alright tuning the 1.82, I have successfully tuned a 90-T, 100-T and still have a 1.30, the 1.30 that has a rocker cover screw twisted off on the rocker pivot mount, so it has one screw in the side of the cover. Amateurish I know, but it works. and it's the left cylinder. Bummer

Dave, shouldn't be too hard to extract that broken screw with today's screw extractor technology. Make a starter dimple/hole with a small centering bit before drilling. Lot's of heat to liquify the castor and it should come out easy peasy.

82 ring in my new 82 cylinder, the new ring's gap is exactly the same.
Parts I'm sending on the right, two barely used rocker arms, one 56 piston/three rings, five cam followers, should be two that are acceptable, one 82 ring, it's perfectly smooth, good tension. I'll look for a 50 cam. The larger piston on the left is smaller than the 82 piston and larger than the 56 piston. Two new rocker arm pins. If used stuff is acceptable. No funds needed.

hey guys, I picked up 2 chipmunks this week, they are in great shape. there's one more but it's a smart one, it keeps springing the human trap
on another note, here's a photo of my granddaughter, it was just take a month ago, I'm just crazy about her, it's funny how grandparents can get like that isn't it.
and a couple link to a couple Slowpokes, one with a Saito 100T and another with a 90R3, enough power I would think

She's beautiful Jim, the 1.30 runs neck and neck with a 1.20 single, I sold the 90-t a while back, so the 1.82 and 1.30 are it for twin. The 1.20 triple is new and not quite broken in.
What’s up with the 300 twin ?
you don’t hear a lot about them. Are they ok? Or just not popular? Makes me go Hmmmm
i like my 182 I can’t wait to fly it. And boy do I need help. I just bought another engine but I think it was worth it the 115 is a little hard to come by.

Dave, thanks. Used parts are totally acceptable. The 5035 cam is to convert my 45 into a 45S. Still haven't found a 50 carb to put on it.
Jim, cute granddaughter, we call ours "skishies". The Polish Princess....eeeeer uh Handbrake.....eeeer uh Ball and Chain and I didn't realize how great it is to be a grandparents until it happened. Love'm to death.

Cap,
That 300 Saito is a champ !
This is my buddy, local flyer Dave G's scratch built Smith Mini plane getting hauled smartly off the runway by a single carb Saito 300. A real treat to see!
Winter is on the way, hope to see yours in a real plane. Test stands don't count
Regarding tappets; not that difficult to refinish the faces on tappets that have been abused by improper oil blends, poor venting etc.

That's what all women want you to think jim, they just practice on the oldies first
Capt there's a lot of people nowadays going electric, like decaf coffee, so the big methanol and nitro guzzling glow fourstrokes have fell out of fashion with the flat white latte sipping set. As gary mentions they don't lack for grunt. I ran an old single carb version of the fa300 in for a friend years back. I thought it was a bit big for my cobbled up pine timber sawhorse weighed down to the shed floor with the car jack out of my toyota, but since we'd had a few beers with the sunday arvo bbq it sounded like a good idea to try and start it. After it sounded like it was properly primed i hooked two glowsticks to it and flicked the large prop, it fired first time and made me jump back and half trip over the lawnmower, man those things can bark!
ps they can easily drag pine sawhorses across the shed floor as well, it was exciting

Saito 200 Ti rebuild
Can anyone help me here... I have acquired a 200 ti twin, replaced all bearings and some other bits... but have found that the timing, on the rear cylinder didn’t conform to the usual cam lock @ TDC alignment. It clearly is opening the inlet valve as it gets to TDC on compression stroke.
Does anyone have any advice/guidance/instructions etc that will help me set up the timings gears...
Any / all help much appreciated. !

Cool
i did get a second 300
now I have one wit duel carbs and old CH ignition and a single carb still on glow. I can’t wait to run both. I have a friend of mine building me a 50cc bipe so you will see one of them on that, probably next summer. Also was thinking of maybe converting one to gas.

The 200ti is an even firing engine (both pistons reach tdc at the same time). The compression stroke will alternate between cylinders every 360° of crank rotation. The Saito manual parts diagram shows the front cam facing the opposite direction as the rear cam (180° offset).

[QUOTE=Hobbsy;12556796] hi. yes both have the timing dot and timing “oil hole” , they also have a score mark which is at 90 degrees from the dot.
