Hey I just had an idea for the AMA's next project. A home for old R/C pilots. Naturally it will need to have a well stocked proper workshop and a flying field with a bathroom with windows facing the flight line over the urinals for when emergencies arise.

I just assembled a Saito 120-S from parts I bought from Gary, I used a 2..20 velocity stack and sleeved it down from 12 mm to 9.50 mm close to the 9.25 mm venturii. I think it should have gold rocker covers but I love the ones you. see.

With this 12x12.5 apc you would be richening off of peak which would put the fa100 at around 9400 rpm on the ground. With your WM 46 size P51 I think the prop would unload something like 600-800 rpm in the air and the fa100 would then be spinning that 12x12.5 at around 10100 rpm and flying by at around 104 mph straight and level. I'd say the 12x12.5 apc would be a better choice than a 12x12 apc.

would it be any benefit to maybe go to a 12-13 then. Or a 13-12.

Hang in there, I will send you some big block exhaust goodies too. That 120 looks spiffy and I see you wasted no time at pressing your new machine into service. Those valve covers with matte finish were badly corroded and had pitted, flaky plating. They were stripped using a Scotchbrite wheel in a bench grinder. I kind of liked the look too. They do take paint well if you take the notion.

Final testing has to be done in flight. A 13x10 may actually fly your warbird faster than a 12x12.5 even if both props are spinning at the same rpm! Sounds weird I know, but it all depends on how much drag your plane has. Prop diameter gets you thrust, prop pitch gets you speed.
But here's the thing, you will never reach prop pitch speed if you don't have enough thrust to get you there.

Sorry if wrong place to post but. My saito has a fitting with a hole in it in on the flexible header. . I presume smoke but there are no threads in it and opens into the inside of header. Wouldn't that make for less muffler pressure for fuel tank. Should I tap it and put screw in it?
