Just out of interest, only having ever driven 4WD tourers, how different are the handling characteristics?
Im really tempted to buy an F103GT after seeing your build Lunchboxer, beautiful example. But I dont want to regret getting one if its gonna be a PITA driving it.

There's plenty of room for a gyro on that chassis.. maybe TEX should consider getting one of those just to mess around..

That yellow shock there?! Is it oil filled? Cause on mine, the stock one was just a friction shock.. that's why I wanted to go to TRF right away.. if yours is oil filled, maybe you don't really need the upgrade.. hmm..

Ya, it's oil filled with some heavy oil. It also comes with two spring spacers to adjust tension. I might take that spring out and put in one of the TT01 springs from the friction set.

Why? You think the TT-01 spring would work better??

It's stiffer than the current one...

LOL, "gonna be a PITA driving it"...

It all depends on what you want, I guess...

I think it takes a lot more throttle control.. it is harder to put the power down the ground.. that's for sure.. for 4WD touring car, you just point and shoot.. this takes a lot more skills, I think..

So it is up to you to decide whether this is what you want or not.... maybe you just want to put a BL system and go 45mph and turn at will.. this is probably not one of those kits...

There's always gonna be a physical limitation on how much power you can put down on that chassis.. so I'd guess when you are running a very powerful motor system (when you got power to spare), the 4WD will always dominate... BUT, if you got a limited power.. like if you run 19T motor.. I'd say that I wouldn't be surprise to see the F103 to run away from a 19T powered 4WD TC..

Of course, the 4WD will be more consistent.. still..

But you know, sometimes, people like the challenge of actually driving a car well, right??

I mean, just like in real life.. if speed is all we want, there will be no one buying a manual transmssion on those BMW M3/M5, as the SMG can always do it better than human.. but I think people (some) still prefer to do it themselves, having the satisification of shifting properly, doing heel-n-toe (or even double clutching) well, the old school way!

Yup, my local club only uses stock 27turn motors which should help. I may have to get me one now. Thanks for the replies.

I am thinking that in theory, gearing fairly high will result in less wheel spin. Although this will probably over heat the motor sooner.

With 27T motor, I would not be surprised at all if you run away from the 4WD TCs!!

Although, I doubt that they will let you run with them in the same class....

I think it gears pretty high as is... right, it heats up the motor.. even w/ my silver can.. 2 packs would heat it up pretty good.. that's why I put the heatsink on it now..

Probably should get the aluminum motor cage... hmm.... maybe.. or the Tamiya motor plate...

Thats half the atraction, its a new club thats only been running 6 months and only has about 15 members, and the club owners isnt too bothered about running 2wd and 4wd together as most people only ever run 4wd, he thinks he's helping by letting you run 2wd with the 4wd's. May be worth a try.

I see.. small club, run what you bring, except the motor, right?! That's fair, actually.. I mean, you gain some speed on them, but they probably hook up better on the turns.. maybe.. but with some straight, you will run away...

I'm so weak...[&o]

I really like the looks of these and they remind me of my Toyota Toms. This one will not be built.

Might as well build it up and display as a true shelf queen... no need to keep it in the box...

How much did you end up paying for this one?! (e-mail me if you don't want to post here..)

From Hong Kong / Japan? Similar deal compare to your C11 then... not bad...

Or it is from an US seller?!

OK, tested the C11 in the hallway....

Didn't get too fast, don't want to hit the wall, but there is a problem with the rear axel some where. There is a dull clicking noise.[:'(]

I am going to check it out now.

Checked the pinion...nothing

Checked the spur....nothing

Free spun the axel and a slight clicking....

Re-assembled the diff and it's ok...

Test ran again and still a slight dull clicking...[:@]

Ran up the drive train at full throttle and a small staple flew out from somewhere, most likely from a screw bag.

No more clicking...
