Well said, the largest engine I have now,(that I will use), is the Saito 182 twin. I have a SuperTigre 4500 and a 3000 I should gift to somebody. Most of the props on the left end of prop row are for 3 cubic inch engines.

PS, some of those props on the right, out of view are from 1956 when I was 14 years old and got my McCoy 36 for Christmas. I still have the 36 and the 35 I got the next year and a Spit5fire .049, PeeWee .020 and OK Cub .024. Lucky if they're worth 10 bucks but I've had them for 66 years.

No hurry on the 91 parts Gary, I know you'll get to it when you get to it. Presently I have only ordered bearings. The WM P51 slated for the 91 is undergoing some reconstruction anyway. Thanks.

Don't sell those big Super Tigre engines short, they may guzzle fuel a little but they put out the power and will last forever. I still prefer glow to gasoline. I also still have a couple of my old .049 and .020 Cox engines. I plan to hang on to them even if I never run them again.

Want to add one more radial to this year's flight season. My buddy just picked up a Stearman with a r70 in it. I have the same airframe. Be nice to hear two fly bye at in formation.

I just received the new Tiger 3 from Tower, it has some interesting hardware. Pre-drilled mounts that fit the Saito 62-B perfectly, Nice quality wheels, the 12 oz Roto Flow fit nicely, really nice aluminum wheel collars. It appears that they went for a Kavan looking wheel look but fell short.

I like simple sport planes like that, less work, much fun LOL
but I need a bigger one for my K&B 100, no one makes a sport plane in the 65", 67" span. I would build one but that comes down to two things, 1) I probably wouldn't build it straight, and 2) it probable would take me a year to build it.

They make a Tiger 3 70.8" ws for .60-.91 2 strokes. Seems like that would work for a 100?

Like mine with the 62 being a little above the range the 100 is only slightly above the range on the larger one. It has the same colors as mine, a whole different scheme.

as for the 70" Tiger, I missed that one. I will have to make up my mind if I sell this GeeBee Y, I still would like that Ryan. I was thinking if I buy the Ryan I could put the FA115 in it, and put the FA100 in the VQ P-40, then the OS 70 in the Midget Mustang, then all my engines would be used up, exsept the K&B 100. of course the FA91 is going in the ShoeString

I know a guy that has over 30 planes, some built, some half built, some setting around 25 years half built, some crashed, some this some that and a few fly, and, he does not fly any more

Those Tiger 3 engine recommendations are for 2 strokes. I multiply by 1.5 to arrive at the 4 stroke size for aerobatic/sport flyers. The .46-.55 size Tiger would get an fa72 or 82 and the .61-.91 Tiger would get an fa91, 100,115 or 125, depends on balance and how much vertical performance I'm after.

An fa82 is the perfect match for most of the Phoenix .46-.55 size planes, even fits the provided engine mount with little modding. I've had several. My .45-.55 Sbach is quite the aerobat with an fa82 and apc 14x6. hovers nicely at about 1/2 throttle and pulls out ok. Straight line speed is around 55 mph. With the Sbach; flying on the wing is not its forte.

The Tiger 3 will fly ok with an fa62 but will lack the power for large loops and will fall out of knife edge flight due to insufficient air speed acting on a smallish rudder.

As always, ymmv. We all have different expectations and flying styles. Nothing wrong with that.

Hobb’s is awesome and if Geri answers she is so sweet makes me think she’s got biscuits and gravy cooking or maybe even chocolate chip cookies baking all the time. Just like my grandma use too.

I would love to meet Gary some time too, if he still has the Rascel I might get the chance I love to hear car and motorcycle stories.
