You should be proud, cus that’s one very nice jet. You have one thing wrong though: Your R54 wasn’t playing with the big boys, it IS the big boy :-)

I agreed with you, we had a few full size airplanes TO and landing in between our flights, all coordinated of course, we even had a gang ( club ) of 7 bonanzas + a twin do a fly by with sequenced coordinated landings and TO for us, very cool.

The dinner was excellent as usual,.

Default Kits

Has anyone heard if BTE is ever going to run anymore kits? It’s been out of stock for months.

See post #4553. I suggest that you send Bruce an email or PM and ask him.
I'm sure that he'd have to be convinced that there's enough demand to make it worth his while.

BTE is collecting email addresses of those who wish to be notified if/when there’s another run. Putting your name on that list might help nudge them toward another batch.

No promises but, I'm taking time off in early May just after the Clovis jet meet here in Cali near Fresno to head out to Medford to finally meet Bruce and bring my R54 for him to see it.

I will have some info about the next R54 batch bach, I myself want another kit to build.

It is not an easy task for one person to put a batch together, specially when they are busy with other projects.

I'll send him my email so we can add another one to the list. Hopefully there's enough interest to run some more.
Thanks for all the responses.

Hi All, I'm slowly working on a new batch of R54 kits. With other priorities, low demand. and the generally lousy supply situation, it's taking much longer than I thought. But the notify-when-ready email list is still available to anybody that's interested. I'm done making estimates about when they might be ready though, sorry. Hate to disappoint anybody.

Hi All
After a couple of years being absent from this thread, I am back.

The Reaction 54 is still my all time favorite and I fly it routinely. As of earlier today it has accumulated 179 flights - 104 of which in the past 8 months

I am curious as to how many flights those of you still enjoying this magnificent airplane have accumulated?

Josh

I bought my R54 used back in 2007. I have no clue how many flights this is equal to, in the time I have had it I have timed out the turbine twice. This is about 55 hours of run time.

Jeff
Assuming that a cycle (turbine start to shutdown) is approx. 10 minutes, 55 hours is 3300 minutes. 3300/10=330 flights. That is impressive! A great tetament to the resilience and longevity of old fashion balsa and plywood constructed airplane.

WoW…. That’s the nicest kit bash of an R54 I’ve seen yet in terms of making it look like a jet.

Cheers,

I have said it before but am going to say it again…Among many terrific R-54s, this interpretation is simply the most stunning IMO. Just…amazing. I doubt that I would have the skill or patience to imitate this, but when I do finally get around to building my own 54, this one will certainly be an influence!

PaulD and Highhorse: thanks for the compliments. I will be more than happy to help anyone who wants to do the same - it is pretty easy

My late friend build this R44, this other friend of us bought it from him, I now own it and it's coming back home to Sac from the Albuquerque NM area sometime in April after been gone for many years.

This is the only airplane I wanted to have from his inventory because he build it from scratch and painted it.
