Welcome to Club SAITO !
My Feedback: (5)
Anyone know anyone that could still possibly make a customized exhaust for a saito 60t? I need it to tuck pretty tight to the bottom of the engine and drop/turn down only very very little. I will add rubber exhaust extension to have it clear the cowl.
Hot Dang, Petio is back!
Acdii, those 115's and 125's will make rated power if everything is right. No different than any other Saito, sans the 82.

Close but no cigar
Dave i thought singling out an fa125 for a serious destruction test would have given me away. Even though apc props can look as ugly as the grey graupners nearly, you can't see them when flying and their flying performance is very good. Also easy to check max rpm for your saito against factory figures as they are saito's recommended benchmark prop.
Acdc when first test flying over powered high performance low winged tail draggers i run a mas classic so if you throttle up too quickly and it noses over late in the takeoff run you still get airborne and can fly it instead of ending up in the trees.I once ground half the white tips off a mas classic, you could hear it and see the prop reducing in diameter, the wooden prop boys were amazed when i landed and they had a close look, i hung that one on the shed wall behind the bar. Apc pattern props with a light ground strike will usually just lose the tiny tip point but any heavier, such as when you are doing touch and goes or low loops will shatter the ends with long cracks going towards the prop hub, if you get airborne again you plane is vibrating bad because one tip has lost a small lump of plastic.
Howdy lonnie and jim
ps lonnie you must be a good influence on jim if he's given up his smelly heli two strokes

yes Sr, I got rid of that smelly 2st, in fact you will be happy to know I got rid of 3 smelly 2st in one box LOL. but I still have 3 unique 2st left, sorry about that
Jim
Saito engines have longer props

Well, crap. I need a spinner for my Chipmunk, and found a 2" red one, perfect right? except not large enough for a MAS for the FA-100. I don't have an APC or XOAR for it either. Guess I have to go shopping after all. I also need a 90* exhaust for it to clear the cowl, so going to find the taps and dies and some brass stock to make one.
FWIW, some of the crazy numbers I see on those tach pages is one of the reasons I set up my own testing standards. Apc props, 15%nitro/17.5% oil, F plugs, a sturdy test stand and the static thrust calculator I have posted links to so many times.
I discovered two helpful things in doing that, one is I can determine the health of my engines and the other is that I don't have to take a handful of props to the field to make my plane fly right.
.103 X CC is an excellent way to determine expected hp from our Saito singles set up as noted above.

When you make your adaptor leave a radiused fillet where the male threads transition into the larger adaptor body. A squared off transition will form a stress riser and crack every time.

Wont fit, the posts inside the spinner are moved a hair from the width of the prop, so they don't align properly. I found the 90* adapter, it's $17, vs $40 for tap and die and would also need a larger die holder, so just went ahead and ordered one.
I may have a 2" Truturn spinner that would work for you. Be right back.........
........nope, 2-1/4" is the smallest I have.
I do have a bunch of TT and Dave Brown 3" Aluminum spinners if anyone is interested. Also have a 3 blade 2-5/8"

Electric? Blasphemy That Fredricksburg field is a top notch facility, wish I had something like that close by.
Having read what I have about those Dynathrust props I wouldn't feel safe anywhere near one. Ejecting blades from the hub may be why they went out of business?
I read where you haven't had any problems with them Dave, that's good and I hope it stays that way. Be careful Dave, pretty please.

Have also read some negatives on Dynathrust props, but believe under 10k they are safe enough. Have some 12" thru 20" - and use them on K &B Sportsters and 4-strokes mostly
Rowdog, i'd use some aluminium pipe and a hand held bender, slip the adapter for the exhaust thread on and flare that end. My fa182 twin came with very thick aluminium crush washers.
Hi capt, i have a small, and very vicious, brown and white fox terrier called saito who will be happy to bury your lazy fa125's
Lonnie i am very happy with my three fa82 engines, they are my go to engines for 46 size arf's like the decathlon, the one with the huge dent in the intake tube pulls 300 rpm more than the other two.
ps i hope they let me keep the junior member tag it makes you feel younger

A little common sense makes anything and everything safe.
I forgot to show what I did with those black elbows, I used them to adapt two Saito FA 30 mufflers. What a magnificent sound.

Yep, an RCM 60 I need to cover.OK, the numbers with big black Xoar 18 x 6
Max at two clicks south of peak==7,770
Idle======================1,920
With wood Xoar 16 x 8
Max RPM=================8,490 with two tach's, a Hobbico and the fancier Globee
Idle======================2,190
After today's run. Note brass tail piece repair job, it turned blue.

Thanks, after 16 OZ more fuel the compression is even higher, a 16 x8 APC and a MS Classic are on the way. The rocker lash did not change this time. That big wide bladed 18 x6 was a bit much, I think.
I have a half dozen MA Classic props but nothing appropriate for testing an fa150. Your MA 16x8 will be an interesting test when compared to an apc 16x8 which a healthy 150 will turn 8700-8800 peak.

Fa150
I run my Golden Knight FA150 on Cool Power MV fuel. Turning a wooden Xoar 18x6 pulling the Hangar 9, 1/4 scale Tiger Moth. Its much more than I need .
For a while I had an APC 17x8.
With both props its been doing 8,200rpm +/-
Hope this helps
