Welcome to Club SAITO !

As I recall not the same cam, the lifters as well are totally different. No mushroom. The Fathead will idle far, far lower than any other Saito I have seen. Lots of fin, very tame compression. Not an engine for those looking for a virtual two stroke on peak RPM. For those who fly the wing, the Fathead is precious.

I have one of those cam housings, I was rebuilding a 120-s, I installed the mushroom lifters in that housing and low and behold the engine would only turn so far. The housing appears to be brand new.

Key Features
- 0.62 cubic inches of power in a 0.56-size case
- Integrated head transfers heat more easily and evenly
- Turns an APC 13 x 6 prop at 9900 rpm
- Installs easily in all .40–.72 models
- Unique champagne color drive washer
- True chrome AAC cylinder lining
- 1-piece cylinder head allows engine to run cooler
- Backed by a full 3-year warranty
My numbers for a Saito 62-b: MA 12x6 3 blade 10% full syn. fuel max rpm 10,150, idle 1,850 Glo-Devil, 4c plug.
And I was getting in the low 2k range for a steady idle, and I haven't even adjusted the low speed mixture yet. Gotta check my valve clearance soon, too.
So, I am very pleased now, with this little gem. Just like with my Saito .40.
Thanks for the info.

Yeah
unfortunately my engine collection consists of quite a few not new engines with a select few newer engines.
I was getting them out to take a pic and found a couple I will need to go through.

It had become grungy over the last three or four decades. I took it apart for cleaning and did a display type reassembly. Should run ok however, should you care to fly it.
Right now just happy to get some of these into hands of people who actually appreciate them.
The engine has brought me a load of fun.

Lucky you Crunchy, those open rocker engines are just so special.
Right now I'm wondering how in the world I did without MIP Speed Tip Bits for so long. These things are cat's meow for breaking loose rod cap screws on boxers.

Lonnie, do you still bang the drums ? my friends had a good band up here in the 80s, called "Last Wish" it really was a good band. I ran their Board, it was a Carvin 24 channel. the lead guitarist was here today to help me work on my house. to add, back in the 80s I had a Less Paul and a Carvin X amp 100, guess what my son's name is, well it's not Less and not Paul. the wife loves that name so that's what she named him. no X thO. I gave up the guitar, I would get shooting pain from my finger tips to my elbow in my strumming arm.
here is my friend's channel, the first time he heard "Fish" he changed his style. he started playing in 71. I can't get him to get into planes.
Jim.

Jim, I stopped playing 25 yrs. ago. A mountain bike racing injury took out most of my right calf tendon. I've tried to play again now and then but the pain comes on in less than 5 minutes. New hobbies now.![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I agree Mike and at a very good price.
