any body remember the term " the scientific method"?

I thought I had gotten one with a carb kit but don't see it now. I'm having issues lately with not knowing where I put things. I have a brand new Moto G6 cell phone floating around here somewhere that I got with a 4 line ATT contract, can't find it anywhere. My G-daughter isn't very happy about that either.

Mike, I am sorry to hear the bad news! I know much about the lose of loved ones. my own brother died at 17 way back in 73, he was cheated in a car accident. I was 14 and in bed when he died, well he was a bit mean to me the last few weeks he was alive, but today I have come to miss him more as I get older.

Good pics Gary, clearly showing some effeciency gain can be had by creating a short turn radius in the ports. I haven't yet developed the nerve to attempt it.

Note the brass color in the cylinder sleeve while the valve seat-guide assembly is reddish, indicating bronze material. Yep, for certain the porting is more production oriented than performance. This being an early cylinder, it would be interesting to do a later engine for comparison. The early 40 was not exactly a fire breathing monster.

Do you think a new engine would have a different material than bronze? If I remember correctly the early OS 4 cycles had the same power problem. I'm curious to know if YS and Enya suffered the same malady in the early years. The first thing I can remember hearing about YS is they had a lot of power.compared to other brands I don't remember much if anything about Enya 4 cycles I think they came out after I had left the hobby for a time.

The newer Saito glow engines are all AAC. No more of the ABC but they are lighter and still hold up well.

Did the change to AAC from ABC happen about the same time the 2 cycle engines changed or did one come before the other?

Not sure when in relation to 2 cycle engines but Saito's AAC cylinder design holds up perfectly well in methanol applications. Their attempt to use the full AAC design for gas applications didn't work out so well with the FG20, burnt exhaust valve seats and rod problems, so they moved back to bronze seats and rod bushings for gas engines but kept the lighter AAC cylinder (no brass liner).

Are there actually unsleeved 2 strokes out there? I've not heard of any.

They didn't go unsleeved they went with a different alloy in the sleeve. If I remember correctly there were a lot of industries researching metallurgy at the time. A friend of mine was in college was studying metallurgy at the time and found he got multiple internship offers with guaranteed hiring after graduation. His fiancee was killed in a hit and run and he dropped out. He ended up dying from Pneumonia in his mid twenties on the day after Christmas after finally getting a handle on things.

One of the engines that has me scratching my head was the Super Tigre 4C, I found an ad for ago but I have never seen the engine itself. I always wonder if it ever made it to market. It looks like they modified an existing S3000 2 cycle to turn it into a 4 cycle.

Heavily stained and lightly used, makes sense. That ST 4 stroke, if it has a check valve in the crankcase could very well be super charged, the rotary valve under carb would be one stage, a check valve in front of the induction pipe would be the second stage.

The Webra T-4 87 was super charged in such a fashion, there was a check valve on each side of the crankcase, mine had those blocked off by plates.
