The Dr. visit went well, I face 8 weeks, (40 days) of daily radiation treatments, but the prospects look good.
I had the back plate ordered for a few month at MacGregors, finally they sent an email saying it was no longer available. The top two bolt holes are each half broken off, the .125" aluminum plate serves the purpose well. And is not very visible.

Alright!! Almost done with the Corsair! All the radio gear, the engine, fuel system, Basically everything except polish, canopy, and decals is done on the Fuselage. Just have to connect the servos, hook up the ailerons, and put the flap hatches on and the wing will be done, and all it would need is the same polishing and decals.

Hey GaryThe Raynor paste. I think it may work with a good fit up. Have to play with it a bit. I was over your way last week. Was thinking about barging in on you but couldnt find your number to pre rattle the cage. Pm'd you to late.
Silver solder braze likes to have a fitted overlap. Butt ended joints do not offer much strength. Silver solder is best when sweated at around .002" to .006" thick. You may be better off with bronze or brass brazing. Very similar but higher temperature. If you don't have an oxy-acetylene outfit, you may borrow mine.
With either silver solder or braze it is important to not overheat the filler metal.
Also, you should consider making a fixture to hold all parts in perfect position during brazing . Very important! You may be able to make most of the fixture from hardwood, we did at work often. In the areas exposed to welding flame, you may have to use metal support/locators. Use your imagination a bit, screw heads of screws extending from the wood base etc,
Build your fixture around the engine itself using it to form and fit the connecting tubes perfectly.
PM me your phone number, easier to discuss that way.

Definably not basement tools and gasses.
The hobby stuff i do mostly in the basement shop with mapp or propane. Sort of rare for me. This project is a learning tool as much as anything else. Done very little brazing or torch welding. Specially on tiny stuff like this.
More used to fortifying dragline buckets and dozer blades or a backhoe boom or such.
Another life ago
And....?????
Those 10 cubic foot acetylene bottles, handled properly are certainly no more hazardous than the 20 pound propane tanks folks have on their RV or backyard grille. Natural gas piped thru houses, five gallon cans of gasoline etc.
I respect tools, no fear needed.

Really? Does every subject have to turn into a P***ing contest? Sounds like someone just wants some info on OA torches. I use it safely but follow the rules to the letter......accept separating the O and A bottles when not in use.
Looking to assume the high ground?
You tell me about the p------ng contests Lonnie. You have baited several.
I offered to loan tools and was handed stuff about them being too danreous to have around, Like I was recklessy endangering somones home.
