The first kits are being finished up now, many people took the deposit option offered around Xmas and they will get the first kits. May be worth you talking with your chosen rep and see what air shipment from the factory would cost.

I am planning on installing Electron ER-50's. The Electron guys recommended using the ER-50 for their extra strength. I plan to use a Lado E-door linear actuator to close the nose door.
I bought the struts, wheels, and brakes direct from Airtech Germany as my dealer couldn't get get an answer from CARF regarding purchase of the gear without the retracts.
Your other option would be to buy the CARF gear and have Down and Locked convert them to electric. I did this on another plane - its the best way to go but is a very expensive option.

pfact,
did you get your Viper thru Ray L. ?. I should have mine by the end of May, I hope. I guess there is no manual with the kit , so everyone building one needs to chip in on Issues. should be a fun project.

Yes - Ray arranged for the Viper for me. I just figured out a few minutes ago that there is no manual - this is a sign that CARF has not strayed far from the original Skygate concept and German ARF philosophy.
I also just got my Electron retracts - I'm not yet sure if they will fit, the depth of the retract opening is within 1mm of accommodating the retract.
I plan to start building right after Joe Nall and will be happy to post what I do. The kit looks like a lot of the work is already done by the manufacturer.

Have you discovered whether the ER50 retracts fit the Viper yet? Did you go for the nose wheel steering option or will you be using wires?

I haven't been able to start my build yet. I do know there is enough depth for the ER50's and that the mount needs to be widened by <1mm to accommodate the width of the retracts. What I don't know is if the strut cover plate will sit below the surface of the wing.
I plan to start building some time next week. I will do the landing gear first
The retracts I received include the tiller steering but I am not impressed with the amount of movement it permits so I may go with a traditional pull- pull setup.
Did your kit come with a fuel tank and hd
Adware?

Mine came with fuel tank but I had to order it as an extra. It's not included in the basic kit. Please post as soon as you have discovered whether the ER50s fit ok with respect to the strut covers.

Andy,
I spent some time today measuring the ER50's and the wings - the ER50's will not fit, they are too tall. The aft edge, without the gear cover will protrude beyond the surface of the wing. On my right wing they are also too deep along the aft edge to sit on the retract mounting plates without deforming the top of the wing.
I am going to order the retracts from Airtech instead.

Actually the Er-40 are perfect with very minor modification. Er-50 is too much for this kit.
I have just made a set using the Er-40, Behotec trailing link struts, wheels and air brakes.
Will have electric brakes soon and have also put together a wing light kit for it.
LADO 999 will also work well.

Sure Imade 3 Ushaped plates from good quality ply wood and hysoled them in place.
Gave an extra 1/4" height increase but a small penalty to pay to fit the Er-40.
