Hi everybody.
Please Maddog, could you tell me if it's possible to put into the cowl a Airen radial engine. This motor have a diameter to 29.5 cm(11.6").
Thanks so much for your reply..
Bye bue everibody
Cheers

I hope your P-47 arrives in better condition than mine did.
As the Fedex guy unloaded mine from his van I could hear something inside banging around.
What I found when I got the box into my shop and opened up was scarry. The retracts were never put inside of it's own box, it looked like someone took them from their box and dumped the gear and the soft foam packing for them on top of the plane.
Good thing the bubble wrap protected everything but the gear ended up on top of the canopy and it ended up breaking the clear plastic in it.
I sent pictures of it to GatorRC and told them what I found, hopefully they can replace the canopy but who knows.

Hopeful GatorRC ordered spare parts and gets you sorted! We pay too much and wait too long for this sort of crap to happen! Sorry your box opening experience sucked! I'm not scheduled for delivery until Monday. Fingers crossed!
Cheers

Guessing gear did not travel in same box as plane from factory, rather added along with marketing brochure in Illinois for last leg of trip.
Fingers crossed!

WOW I find it hard to believe that anyone would just toss the gear into this crate and not expect any kind of problems on the buyers end.
I hope everything is OK for you when you do get everything out.
Gator RC did get back to me about the damaged canopy and did say they would send me a replacement; I'll let you know if it arrives.

marksp, I believe once you move the engine north a few inches to correspond with the engine box on the firewall and you’re gonna have the rockers on cylinders number 2 and 5 beating on the inside of the cowl. I genuinely hope I’m wrong as I would love to run a nice 5 cylinder.

Does anyone know if a 100cc range twin will fit in this cowl???? I believe the new dle 130 is 265mm wide cap to cap. Or if possibly to measure cowl width approx 80mm from front lip??? Thanks in advance!

Decided to go with the UMS 5-150 radial after seeing Nir’s build and very positive experience with my current UMS built Tomahawk Black Star 5-250v3 radial.
I’m now curious how others are approaching strengthening the fuselage? Every TopRCModel in my club has carbon fiber added between canopy and stab and the P-47 feels like it needs it as well. The issue is access.
Has anyone already done this?

I think that the best way to gain access to the interior will be to remove the cockpit tub interior.
Be sure to post pics on your assembly of this bird; I'll be diving into mine in about a month or 2.
I have a DA100 I'm planning in putting in mine but I may have to break open the bank account and get the UMS 5-150 also.

Has anyone considered running an in-line 100cc on this bird? The DA100i is slightly shorter than the cowl length but I not too sure it will stick further with that motor box. 9.29” is the engine length, and 10.6” for the cowl but I’m not sure how much is overlap over the fuselage.

I asked Nir who just built one for a client of his with a UMS 5-150 in it what the distance was from the face of the motor box to the end of the cowl was and he said it was 9"
So that would give you a 1.6" overlap of the cowl over the fuselage.
I just bought a brand new never run Quadra 100 with electronic ignition to put in mine.
Currently researching mounting and extensions for it.
