Video Teaser
I have yet to log the tapes, but here is a sample of the footage from the first few minutes off the first tape... just three quickie movies in the following directory:
http://www.mit.edu/~juhan/houston/
I'll take a peek at all the footage this week and eventually create a monster web page. The clips listed above are not compressed at the best settings... or color-tweaked.. just very rough, very quick grabs so folks can get a taste of what's to come (like 8' off-the-deck, walking-speed rolling circles, inverted tail touches, etc)
More later,
Juhan

And I'd also like to thank Ulf and YNOT and everyone else that helped put on one awsome event! I truly had an incredible time and I really appreciated the great company of all. I had a chance to meet some really nice people and make alot of new friends, put some faces with names and jhust have an overall great time.
Got to meet the nice people of Morris Hobbies and even the pretty gal that often greets you when you call Morris. Who by the way is as cute as she is nice.
And lastly a special thanks to the guys that traveled with me.....allowed my to travel with them. Gator, Paul, Jeff and Jess are truly great guys that kept me entertained all weekend. I cant remember the last time I laughed so hard for so long.
Im really glad that I was able to attend and look forward to flying with all you guys again in the future!!!!!!
Oh...and not to forget Chuck Auger........my hero and Budweiser drinking buddy!!!

Now that I've had some sleep...
My thoughts on the Houston Fun Fly...
People had FUN! Sure there were a few planes dorked, but it was still smiles all around. Most of the planes that suffered damage flew again..except the ones on Sunday when there just wasn't time.
The weather...I'm sure glad I got down there Friday for a few flights..Friday was perfect. Saturday was cooler and a little breezy, but there were planes flying the whole time. Sunday started off kinda gloomy but turned out awesome. The weather guys really missed the Sunday forecast..Sunday morning they were saying it WAS gonna rain..60% chance..that afternoon. It turned out to be the best weather of the (Sat/Sun) weekend.
The pilots...man these guys can fly!! I'm not a 3D pilot, I just went to get some pointers and hang out, but every other pilot there had some game. The local guys were great pilots, the Missouri guys all flew great (and a LOT!! These guys came to fly!), and the TN/KY/MS/IN guys were outstanding, too. I'm sure there were pilots from parts unknown (to me) that flew great , too. The average skill level displayed was very high.
The thing that stuck with me was..several guys said that they weren't real popular at their clubs because of the nature of 3D flying. Yet here you had 34 pilots sign up, many had driven hundreds of miles to get there, to just fly 3D. Seems like there might be a little more popularity there than some of the non-3D pilots care to admit. And as an aside to that..the non-3D guys who showed up got to fly. The weather was just too nice to stay home, so when they showed up, the 3D pilots made time for them to get in some flying...one guy was flying a turbine and he got in several flights Sunday. Nobody griped, they just parked until he landed and then flew again. No big deal.
On a personal note...I got to hang out with some of the nicest people and best pilots around. I got people who are serious 3D maniacs check my plane out and help me get it set up. Shoot, I had the guy who designed my plane check it out and offer suggestions on set-up. Now all I need is about 1000 hours of practice. Got to hang out with the folks from Morris all weekend. Got to put faces and personalities to the RCU nicknames. Got some sun!!!
So I had a very good time. I hope somebody puts up some more pics...I know we had one group shot of Pro Bros doing "The Stare"...somebody has to put that up!!

Man it was fun associating all the faces with the my bud's on RCU!!! The road trip had to be the best part... I laughed soo hard I gave myself a sore throat!!! TWICE!!! I'm not even gonna let my wife look at the car, till I fumigate it with fabreaze!!! Nothin' like 5 guys with a common interest on a road trip!!
ChuckAuger's Sledge was a monster!!! I take back everything I've ever said about 4 strokes!! This thing really rocked!! He did a superb job of putting it together and the covering was flawless.... I was really impressed by the workmanship of this ol' red neck!!!
Jeff William's Sledge with the 2 stroke MVVS was awesome too.... Makes me want to go build my sledge right now!!! But I promised my family I'd stay out of the garage for a couple of days.... <grin> Maybe I can sneak out after they go to bed.... Then again.. maybe I can learn to relax a little!!!

I am the guilty party for getting into Jess's wing while pulling into a hover beside him right on the deck. I hated that i put his plane out like that but he was very great about it, what a bunch of great guys! This was one of the best times ive ever had at a funfly, The event was ran very well, very low crashes for any kind of event much less a 3D on the deck funfly. I liked the morris kits so much I bought a knife arf, a pen knife kit and a sledge kit. Lots of work to do! Very nice field too but i could have done without all thos skeeters that came out at night.
