RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Well the LHS said he would swap, may be I might keep it for another.
Couple of questions. How power hungry is the 26's ignition?
Dose the head turn 180 as the 20 so carb and muffler are the other way around?
PS need help quick as to order other engine.

CROCEND, ZENOAH OFFERS THE G-26 WITH STANDARD IGNITION AND E.I. I'M USING THE STANDARD IGNITION UNITS. THE E.I. UNITS HADEN'T BEEN RELEASED BY ZENOAH YET WHEN I BOUGHT THE STANDARD IGNITION ONES.
I PERSONALLY PREFER THE STANDARD IGNITION G-26'S FOR SIMPLTCITY AND RELIABLITY. NO WORRIES EVER ABOUT IF THE IGNITION BATTERY HAS ENOUGH CHARGE. THE G-26 MOUNTS EASY, IS VERY EASY TO START, THEY SIP GAS, CHEAP FUEL COSTS, NO GLOW GOO MESS, AND PULL THE T-CAT LIKE A 747. THE ENGINE MOUNT THAT COMES WITH THE G-26 IS THE PERFECT STANDOFF DIM. FOR THE PROP-COWL CLEARANCE. IN MY HUMBLE OPNION, THIS ENGINE IS THE PERFECT MATCH FOR THE T-CAT. THE CARB AND EXHAUST CANNOT BE REVERSED ON THE G-26. I MOUNTED MY ENGINES INVERTED WHICH ALLOWED A DIRECT RUN FOR THE THROTTLE CABLES TO THE MOUNTING LOCATIONS FOR THE THROTTLE SERVOS.

Hi there N215PB,
Still would like to know how much nose weight added to yours, being as you have fitted lighter engines than most of us. Some of the guy's over "here" are going to fit Saito 125's. It will be intresting to see which engine fitment suits best in terms of power /weight ratio regarding aircraft flight qualities. Cheers Richard.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Concerning engine here the mail Paul Morrison wrote to me :
First my mail :
Hi!
I wrote you a month ago for engine recommendation for the tigercat
now a have the TigerCat and I would like to know if a pair of saito 125 will be
too much?? On rcuniverse some have put zenoah g26 I think it's way too big, do you??
thank for your advice, and this plane is awsome!!!!
THE REPLY FROM PAUL MORRISON
G26 is about 30% too much power.
A pair of 125’s will make it rip, a pair of 90’s will fly it very well. So, saito 125’s are fine as long as they’ll fit, or else you may have to cut the cowls.
I personally like the RCV 120’s for the tigercat because the engines can be mounted without any shimming or using a mount (the mount is built into the engine frame). I also like the sound, and the ability to use very large 3 bladed props (15.75x13 3 blade is a recommended prop).

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
CROCEND, I USED AN APC 16X8 FOR THE FIRST FLIGHTS, AND HAVE A PAIR OF MASTER AIRSCREW 16X8 3 BLADE I WANT TO USE FOR FLIGHTS AS WELL. THE 3 BLADERS SOUND VERY SCALE AND LOOK VERY SCALE. IF YOU CHOOSE EITHER OF THESE, THEY WILL WORK WELL ON THE T-CAT. NO GROUND CLEARANCE PROBLEMS. BOTH FIT WELL ON THE G-26...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Thanx VKerster orded yesterday 3 bladers.16x8.
Thanx to
fgpiece on the mains set up I cut through 2 layers and across a little to get the wheel centre on the retract block mout. Now i dummyed up the gear doors just fits.
The whole trouble was the tyre diam.,to big to start with and if the actual gear leg was 12mm shorter would have been better still,no mods but the prop cearance could be to low.
Later T-Cat ers.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
HI T-CAT BROS, DID FLIGHT #3 TODAY PLANE FLEW WELL, SUNNY AND 50 DEGREES, STILL WORKING ON ENGINE SINKS, HAD THE RIGHT ENGINE DIE ON FINAL APPROACH, LEFT ENGINE ABOUT 20 % POWER, FULL FLAPS RIGHT INTO THE WIND. PLANE DID NOT YAW TO THE RIGHT LIKE I THOUGHT IT WOULD. I CUT THE LEFT ENGINE TO IDLE AND THE PLANE FLEW STRAIGHT IN AND LANDED STRAIGHT. GOING TO HAVE TO RETHINK HOW TO GET THESE TWO ZENOAHS TO SINK. THINKING ABOUT A MIRICLE Y HARNESS. WHEN THESE ENGINES ARE AT FULL THROTTLE, THEY ARE PERFECTLY SINKED AND IT'S 50% TO 10% POWER IS WHEN THEY GO OUT OF SINK TO MAKE THE DREDDED "WAH WAH" GROWN[:'(] AT FULL THROTTLE THESE ENGINES BELLOW AND TURNS THE T-CAT INTO A ROCKET! AWESOME SIGHT!!

Vkerster
Have you had any further problems with the gear or did the Blue ones fix your problem ?
I run a JR 9303 radio and with the twin throttle program you can match either left or right engine through the entire throttle range makes it very easy.

N9331V, AM USING A FUTABA 7C, RADIO IS MAXED OUT. USING A Y HARNESS FOR RUNNING THROTTLE SERVOS, NEED TO BASICALLY GET THE CABLES TO OPEN THE CARBS AT THE SAME RATE. MAYBE SANTA WILL BRING ME A 9C....
THIS PLANE IS ADDICTING TO FLY.IT IS A ROCK STABLE FLYER, BODY IS VERY SLICK IN THE AIR. THE BIG TAIL SECTION MAKES IT EASY TO SEE THE ATTITUDE, CROSS WINDS DON'T APPEAR TO AFFECT IT MUCH( MUST BE THE 28 LBS.) YOU GUYS ARE GONNA LOVE IT!!

CHASRB, FOUND MY FUTABA 7-C HAS 3 PROGRAMMABLE MIXES, NOT 1 SO I WILL BE ABLE TO ELECTRONICALLY SINK UP THE ENGINES. I DON'T KNOW WHY I DID'NT THINK OF THIS EARLIER[&:]. NOW I'M REALLY ITCHING TO GET MR. T-CAT BACK IN THE AIR...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Well I decided to go with and order two Saito 160 4 stroke twins, very smooth, dual plugs, awsome sound etc. I run gas in most of my other planes so I decided to try something different. I was also thinking about the Saito 170's for a while but for me its very hard to beat the 160's performance and dependability along with less firewall removal and modifications.
The twin 160 weighs only 3.8oz more than a OS 120 with muffler, I know it will needs extra nose weight but I run dual radio batteries along with a remote glow battery so I will move them forward as needed.
I called Sierra about their retracts and I decided I will buy Sierra gear and not even try to fly this thing with the stock gear, seems very weak to me and again its not if they break but when, especially when someone like me installs engines and modifies things over what the factory originally designed. $650.00 for the gear is not to bad when considering the overall cost of the project.
Lastly when I was talking with Sierra they said they will check into making provisions to accommodate mounting the brass bracket to the strut for the nose door as original .

That will sound awesome!!!! My Zenoah 20's arrived today so i can start building. Those seirra retracts look great. Will you have to do much modification to make them fit. They seem a little wider. They certainly will be stronger i guess. Cheers Richard.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Pylon2 little modification will be needed in the fuel tank area, from what Siera said it should be no big deal. From what I can tell the should be very tough gear for this aircraft.
