I have been a long time fan of Bruce Tharpe kits, I built one of his early, (1994) Venture 60 kits and powered it with a Saito 72. Sadly the right aileron servo locked in the down position and it spiraled into a concrete road in the Engineering Proving Grounds at Fort Belvoir, Va. The plane was splintered and the Saito 72 was crushed. Mr. Tharpe has built special planes for government projects and for some Docu Series such as Storm Chasers. This BTE Super Hauler was used to chase tornados and drop probes/sensors into tornados. It sounds as if it has a two cycle gasoline engine. I could not find any specs for it on his website. BTE also builds a Jet called the Reaction 54, it makes 125 to 140 mph depending on your choice of engine. Slow compared to the one Jim showed, but probably more fun.

Jim, you probably have a slow internet like I do. Wait until all the text you type into the search bar appears and then hit your "ENTER" key. Works every time for me.

well the site is working better tonight, but I hate that "Automatic Search".. tonight I can type in more letters, but that "Automatic Search" still starts when I type in that 3rd letter, so if I am looking for Hyper 91 parts, 55 parts pop up before I finish typing "Hyper 91" <once that is all typed in the search automatically starts over...
I guess that's just the way it's going to be.

Gary I would really like you to come down but the problem is we are working 6 days a week and that ranges from 12 - 14 hour days till thanksgiving. They want us to go 7 days and we been fighting that for now but that’s going to change.

had a boo boo at the happy place yesterday. The gear failed on take off and let my R5 touch the sod. Snapped the exhaust pipe off the bottom cylinder. Unfortunately it also broke the boss casting at the spigot.
Bottom line. I need a black OEM cylinder for a 65. The only one I have here is a running stock motor with the natural finish.
Probably should be asking for a piston that was run it that cylinder also.
I have 11 hours on this motor. Putting a new assembly on it would be a mismatch I expect.
The internal threads will still hold the pipe. High heat lock tite will probably suffice but would rather fix it. If I can find good used parts.

I have a brand-new FA-130 black cylinder (handed same as R-325 cyl) I was planning to use it as a hot rod, dual plug FA-65.
BUT,
Your need is far more worthy, the cylinder is yours.

I posted a wanted add on RCU for the Pe' Reivers thrust/hp Excel spreadsheet. Turns out It's even more comprehensive than the one I was using. Takes all the guesswork out of prop selection, at least for a good starting point.

yes, I only need a cylinder. yesterday Garry just sold a complete engine on RCG, if I new that beforehand I would have bought it. I PMed Capt earlier tonight. we will see.

I took the valve covers off for inspection and I'm really glad I did! The exhaust side rocker arm pin fell right out. It must have come loose. The threads are done, both in the pin and the cylinder head. So I ordered new rocker arm pins from Horizon. I will screw it in best I can. I thought I may try JB Weld since I can't get a cylinder head. Plus it's lots cheaper! Do you guys think JB Weld will hold a rocker arm pin in place?

May have no effect on tuning or running the motor. May seize with time, but again, my observation has been a lot of lubricant makes it's way up the pushrod tubes and keeps that area pretty cool and slippery.
I expect even with the tighter thread fit and factory torque regimen many folks have found this condition when checking and adjusting valves.
They do loosen up though, I have lost pins running motors without the covers replaced. Probably shouldn't admit that here among purists. 😳

May sound crazy to some here but this is just a goofy observation of this. The valve cover must prevent the pin from sliding out of its reciept. While if it does come to back out of its threads it can slide over to the interior wall of the cover but not remove itself. Probably peen the slotted end when it rides on the wall but can't come out.
May have no effect on tuning or running the motor. May seize with time, but again, my observation has been a lot of lubricant makes it's way up the pushrod tubes and keeps that area pretty cool and slippery.
