yes the K&B came with a big square box muffler. I don't think the HP was made for a duct fan, it was just a performance prop engine. I read that it's older "silver" version was the must powerful 61 you could buy back then (January 1969) see my link.

Will do, Thanks, as you can see that one was one of the, (too tight), ones, I had gray Never Seize on it and it still galled.

Yes, the PDP engines were more powerful than the std looper engines of the day.

My little biplane kit is starting to look more like an airplane. So far everything has been scratch built because the fuselage was missing from the kit. That curved lite ply in the background that covers the top front of the fuselage will be quite the challenge (PITA) to glue on there just right. I test fitted my little Saito 40 but looks too big IMO.

well guys I went and did it. I really didn't want to do it but I had to! and you Saito freaks ( <see the hint there) know I bought more Saitos, used.
;well I found this guy 52 miles from my house selling all his planes, engines and accessories, he had been flying some 30 or 40 years and now his eyes are going bad. he has some 15 planes that have to go. but he doesn't want to ship. some of his planes he got from his uncle. and one of them is a kit he started, I don't remember what he said it was but he said the kit was a $500 kit. he has another plane that has a 10' span.
Engine #1;
so today at his house I ask the guy if he had a Saito 91, he said yes and it's a 91GK, he went and got the plane. he said he would sell the engine less plane, $100. so he removed the cowl and engine and handed the 91 to me. a bearing is bad but the engine was rather pretty clean. the cylinder is still shiny. I asked if he would take $80 and he said "you got me over a barrel and laughed", I said to him "ooops. it's no a 91, it's a 100". a 100GK it is. well, he gave me such a great deal on the other Saito I bought so I told him I will give him the $100 for it (all it needs is bearings because it has been setting so long, and the tank still had a bit of fuel in it. and I have a new ring and a new cam here) so I now have 2 Saito 100GKs. and my Midget Mustang is getting a 100GK not a silver 91.
Engine #2;
it's a clean clean clean Saito 120, with the threaded intake manifold with the webbing from the mounting tabs to the front bearing. AND ,,,, it has a sparkling clean CH Ignition. he told me the engine had only 6 flights on it. and yes the Plug wire and sensor looks that clean. once home I removed the Rocker Covers and it's very clean inside.
yeah, I had to buy it ($200), I had to .,,, because this engine is mount to a very clean 4-Star 120. with (as he said) 6 flights on it. it' looks it too.
it came with servos but I don't know what they are, so I have to check on them.
I will try to remember to get photos tomorrow.
I also bought a Robart prop balancer, it has the metal sides plates ($20).
sorry guys, he doesn't have any boxed Saitos or any Saitos that need to be rebuilt (and no OS 4st's). but he does have some smaller 2St's, maybe 10 or 12, maybe 1 or 2 more, from .010 to .040 of different brands. and a nice and clean OS 61fx.
he has a running Enya C-4, I believe it's a 46, I think he said he wants $80 shipped.
later guys. you Saito Freaks !

and,
that guy on YouTube that tested all those engine tested a HB 61PDP and it was just as powerful as that OS 61FX I had.

Sounds like you scored some great engines there. Local sales are the best.
Which brings up a question. I have a fa-56gk that needs a cleaning and new bearings. I put it off because I’m afraid of ruining the paint. Would cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner with LAs totally awesome cleaner damage paint or cause it to chip off?

Gary must have rebuilt 299,060 of them, I've only done right at 40.
Jim, I'm going to send you this tiny tool, Monday. I hope it will help you with the 100.
I'll send the center one.

I was glad to learn yesterday the Kavan is back in business and as before Sig carries their products. Here is a brief history of their existence for the last few years: https://www.kavanrc.com/en/site/about-us
I love their wheels and fuel tanks.

below are photos of the 100GK I bought just as it came out of the plane. it's pretty clean and the cylinder still shines in the light. it has a small dent in one of the Push Rod Tubs.
when I rebuild it I will move the Breather to the front as I did on my other 100. the screws that hold the cylinder to the case look as they were never removed.
sO, as I said, I have a brand new Cam and Ring, so with new bearings it should run like new.
it has a "C" on the mounting tab and on the bottom of the tab it has a very small dimond with "HH" inside the dimond, can some one tell me what the HH is for. I had a thought> the guy said his uncle was a machinist so I was wondering if maybe he put the dimond and HH there.
By the way I have a question>, it has a silver Prop Hub and silver Push Rod Tubes, is that the way the GK came stock out of the box ??

Digital Cameras;
Digital cameras are pretty neat, but some times they unheedingly see every tiny thing or LOL every tiny mark! 80% of the marks you can see in my 100 photos above you can not see with the engine in your hand. all the marks around the "100 Badge" you can not see with the eyes. I find these facts about the digital camera interesting.

I will look-see, may have a pushrod tube laying around.
Yes, the silver parts are how it came. I did paint the intake tube on my FA-65 gold though.

Jim, when I had my K&B 100 it spent 90%of it's life on it's right side and with a Davis Diesel head on it. Those baffles created a problem when side mounted, the cavities created by the baffles would fill up with oil and when you increased the throttle all that oil would briefly fill the exhaust outlet making the engine bog and create one whale of a cloud below the plane. Some folks removed the baffles, I drilled an 8mm hole at the lower wall in what would be the bottom of the baffle. This allowed enough oil to flow that the build up was not a problem.

This the For Sale picture I posted when I sold the two K&B's, the 100 Diesel head is under the prop driver. I made the throttle arm as the original was to close to the engine.
